ISU shot 10 more FTs than OU. Hmmm, Hilton Magic I guess

1. How was that an over-and-back on OU late in first half when Cousins threw ball of Morris' leg? Ball was never across half court. Unless I don't understand the all three points across the line rule

2. Illegal screen on Lattin was a joke

3. McKay grabbed Buddy's arm on last drive to basket. No call

Basketball officiating is hard. But consistency was lacking tonight. Not the cause of the loss, but frustrating down the stretch.

Well, that's going to happen when you settle for jumpers and the other team scores in the paint. Plus, they only shot 10 more free throws which isn't that bad when you consider OU gave them at least a few of those intentionally.

Overall, I thought they did a good job. There were some missed calls (the missed block on Walker's shot was pretty bad). But I thought they let the game flow nicely.

In the end, none of that caused OU's loss. Defensive rebounding, defending the paint, some poor shot selection, and a great overall game by a desperate ISU team doomed OU tonight.

I thought McKay got a lot of ball.

I don't understand that over and back call at all. I didn't like the screen call. I didn't like all the free throws for ISU. I saw some blatant moving screens by Niang He litteraly looked like he was blocking in a football game and no call. He fell into Cousins and both guys go to the floor with no call on Cousins tying three point shot. I really didn't think it was officiated all that well cease I didn't feel like it was consistent o n both ends

Year after year they say they are going to clean up moving screens. They call that on Lattin, but didn't call one on ISU earlier in the game when the ISU player literally backed Lattin three feet out of the way to give them an easy layup. Maybe Lattin needs to fall down in that situation to call attention to it.

#2 what made that illegal screen so pathetic was literally 10 seconds later on the other end Niang bear hugged Buddy on a screen .
Go rewatch it , it was pathetic .

Back court violation was a mistake. Lattin foul was frustrating because Niang was literally wrestling on some screens on the other end of the floor. And of course they gave ISU a free timeout to setup their defense up 2 with 20 seconds to play. All and all that's probably about as good as it gets these days.

Yep, I went temporarily insane as I watched that.

Around the five minute mark is the really bad clear out by Niang. It is followed by McKay mugging Lattin when Lattin gets the offensive rebound.

I think the backcourt call was correct. Hield had already made it into the frontcourt and the ball got knocked away. He came back to get the ball but, I think, touched the ball before he re-established himself with both feet in the backcourt.

i do not think this is correct but would need video to decide

it doesn't matter .. It is where the ball is .. and the ball had never been in the front court ..

when it is the other way in is over and back .. (ie you are in the backcourt and the ball is in the front court you have to establish yourself in the front court before you touch the ball )..

There was one "drive" to the basket by IS very early in the game in which the driver took four long steps before laying it in.

Watch for some people, like Niang, for feet to shuffle prior to the drive.

No

OU took a lot of jumpers, so the 10FTA discrepancy doesn't bother me as much. I agree with all the comments about Niang. I rewound the "Bear hug" on Buddy for my two boys. (having a DRV makes coaching your sons much easier than when I was a kid). But the worst was the clear out on the drive to the bucket. He moved our guy 5 feet out of the way to create the driving lane.

The officials didn't cause us to lose, but I hated that they missed those two calls.

Even if the backcourt violation was the correct call (questionable), ISU should NOT have had a fresh shot clock.

He doesn't have to establish himself in the backcourt with both feet. Only one foot is needed and I thought watching it live he got the one foot down before touching the ball.

The backcourt call was a joke. The ball was never in the frontcourt so a backcourt is impossible.
