Full Schedule Released

I could tell my initial biases where in full force when I was tallying our win/loss total and arrived at 14-1 before I stopped myself.

I think OU can win 20 games, maybe more if everything goes well.

Missouri would be cool. Colorado & Nebraska? Not as much.

OU should never compete with Missouri again in any sport for any reason. The conference should not spend money in KC. Missouri tried to destroy the Big XII conference. It was Missouri that got Nebraska and Colorado to leave the conference. Then Missouri left the next year.

F#$* Missouri. Actions have consequences and OU as well as the rest of the conference should never play Missouri again.

OU vs OU! I like that Ohio game.

I don't like playing @UTA and @ORU - those are two trap games. Hopefully there will be some Sooner fans at both of them.

My wife has two degrees from UTA, so I'll be there.

lol

The Big 12 found itself on the verge of collapse because of Texas and inept leadership by Beebe. Colorado needed no encouragement to leave, and Nebraska jumped on a Big 10 offer that MU never would've accepted (not on the terms under which NU joined). Brady Deaton tried as hard as anyone to save the Big 12, but the Big 12 didn't cooperate.

The Big 10, Pac 10 and SEC were all conferences led by people with a vision for the future, and they recognized the Big 12 as a potentially weak target with zero foresight. If you want to blame anyone, blame them and Beebe's inability to proactively enact change to strengthen the Big 12.

But I actually was going to post in this thread about Ohio. They lost their coach from last season to Illinois, but they return every important player from last year's team. They had nine guys average 10+ minutes per game last year, and all nine are back. They should be a dangerous mid-major team this year and will probably get a ton of pre-season hype. They're arguably the most dangerous team on your non-conference schedule (Arkansas on the road will also be tough).

I agree with with you about Ohio. Last season they beat Michigan and South Florida. They also gave Louisville a run for there money. They should only be better this year. If we manage to win it will be a very good sign.

Also, the bolded statement is obviously false.

Deaton was the last guy at MU to get on board with leaving the Big 12. He genuinely wanted it to work out. Obviously there was a point where his feelings about the Big 12 changed (most MU fans point to Boren's "handcuffs" press conference, which a: wasn't an accurate representation of the current state of the Big 12, and b: undermined Deaton's position as the then-chair of the Big 12 and indicated to him a lack of willingness to cooperate as colleagues). For most of the year leading up to MU leaving, though, Deaton was absolutely not an SEC proponent and absolutely was trying to make the Big 12 work out.

Another possible interesting note on Ohio: they also have a former MU player (and one-time OU recruit) Kadeem Green. He suffered a severe injury as a high school senior, redshirted his freshman year here and played sparingly at the beginning of last season. I have no idea if he's any good (he couldn't crack our rotation despite having just two other legitimate post players, but lingering issues from the injury might have played a role). With so much depth returning for Ohio, I doubt he sees much time. But if he does somehow live up to the reputation he had as a recruit, he could find a spot in Ohio's rotation and make a difference on the defensive end.

Whatever the case, Mizzou is mostly not missed.
Nebraska football, yes. The other 3? Nope.
And we shouldn't schedule any of the 4 that left for the forseeable future.

I don't blame Missouri. Hell, OU wanted to go to the PAC-12 and had we hitched our wagon to an AAU school like Kansas as a twosome, rather than OSU, I think we'd be in the Pac-12 today.

The big culrpit in all of this, outside of UT and the Longhorn Network, at least in terms of being an OU supporter is Colorado. They are the people that turned the tide on Larry Scott and upended the entry vote and the reason we're stuck in this crap conference.

Can't really disagree with any of that except the part about "shouldn't" schedule MU. I wouldn't expect OU to go out of their way to work MU into the schedule, but if it happened to work out for both teams, I don't see why not. (I'd love to play Nebraska in football occasionally)
