markel brown is one of the best athletes i've ever seen. and he has improved his basketball skills enormously from where he was as a freshman. if he continues to improve, it would not surprise me at all if he plays in the nba. athletically he's more than capable.

Fairly great college talent maybe. Mookie had a decent career but obviously lacked the self discipline. King was a backup at best and his most memorable play was that terrible pass in the playoffs. Grant was okay but what did he do? What about the 'Zona team we beat? Elliot, Kerr, Rooks, Buechler, and don't forget Lofton.
Great talent on a team? Hinrich, Simeon, Gooden, Collison. Maybe Kentucky last year.

"Ugly losses?"
Here are OSU's losses:
at Virginia Tech (VT isn't a great team, but it was on the road)
vs. #7 Gonzaga (1 point that was lost on the last possession)
at #18 Kansas State
at Baylor
at Oklahoma
Virginia Tech is the only one of these that could even approach "ugly", but at least it was an ACC team.
And we certainly don't have multiple "ugly" losses. An "ugly" loss is losing to SFA at home. Just sayin'.
As for "losing the rest of our road games", I sort of doubt it. We'll win at TCU and Tech at least. We won in Lawrence. No reason to count out any other road game at this point.

. Honestly, after seeing a few more of the OP's posts, I wish I wouldn't have replied. I enjoy good basketball talk (but rarely post obviously) and know the OP isn't indicative of most of you guys.Nobody should ignore the fact that OSU has one of the most talented teams in the country. Smart/Nash/Brown make up one of the best guard tandems. And when they get Williams back to full strength, they will be even harder to beat. And they just prove that when they are playing at the highest level, they can go to Kansas and win.
I believe that injuries has help their team rather than hurt it. Ford started off this season going with his typical small lineup with Williams playing the 4 and then Olukemi. His hand was forced to go with a bigger lineup and it has paid off tremendously. Jurick and Cobbins play solid defense. And don't get me wrong, they would be better talent wise with Olukemi...but I don't think this team would be as good if he was on the roster b/c I don't think he would be going with a big lineup.

If he can put it together, kid could get some looks. Problem is that the light doesn't always come on and is generally the third option behind two other perimeter players.
Also, when a true freshman drops 25 and 9 in Allen Fieldhouse to upset a top team, that is the definition of bringing it in a game. Kid is real good.

Exactly. I have watched immature fire starters like this come and go for over 10 yrs., including the old board. The best approach is to identify the ignorance, log it in your memory, and IGNORE them. They usually eliminate themselves after the rational posters realize they have a child in their midst.

I don't see how you can somewhat justify losing to Virginia Tech, but simply state that losing to SFA at home was an "ugly" loss.
If you're going to label SFA as an ugly loss, then Virginia Tech definitely deserves to be lumped into that same category, period.

Also, I did respond to your take on the aggies. I listed multiple Sooner greats who never sniffed the NBA. This is college hoops, and it doesn't take NBA talent to win a title, or compete for a title. Kelvin S. competed at a high level for years without much NBA talent. In fact, I would bet more teams with one or two stars, great role players, and great coaches have won titles than loaded teams with a bunch of NBA dreaming me first guys........
I will say again, I hate all things orange, but winning at the phog is a big accomplishment. If we had pulled it off, we would be around here declaring ourselves tournament ready, and conference champion ready. It was and is a big win in stoolwater, and the proof is how often KU loses at home.......
