Gage Mayfield commits to OU

I don’t know anything about this guy but it sure looks like a big deal. Please tell me this is a big deal.

Four-star forward Gage Mayfield commits to Oklahoma

Porter Moser lands a 6-foot-7 forward and one of the best athletes in the 2026 class.

Gage Mayfield, the No. 60 overall recruit in the 2026 class, has committed to the Oklahoma Sooners, he tells 247Sports.

The 6-foot-7 forward out of Hale County (Ala.) picked Porter Moser and the Sooners over Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Florida State.

"I trust them to not only make me a better basketball player but also a better man," Mayfield said of why he picked Oklahoma....

Surely a collab of some sort incoming with Baker? Would love to have him give some love to OU basketball.

I’m sure someone on this board will bitch about this commitment and how this proves we need to fire Moser.
Imo moser has done a good job landing highly ranked HS players, but i have not been pleased with what he's done with them. This is nothing but good news however (other than id personally prefer a highly ranked Guard over a forward). But give me all the top 100 guys (hes top 60) we can get

I’m floored

Great commit, hopefully more within the top 100 will also commit. I agree to an extent that outside of Fears, some of the good high school talent PM has brought in have underachieved, but that doesn't' mean this years' freshman class and on will. Fingers crossed they can contribute immediately!
