Gallon/Warren/Taylor G summer league updates

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

I really wish Tiny had been able to come back this year. He developed very well later in the year and OU would've been a force inside next year. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think he's a really good kid, just a little immature. Hopefully he grows up a little and has a productive pro career.

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

I admit i only watched the first quarter of the Clippers game but Bledsoe looked horrid as a PG...he didnt look like he could ever get a handle on the ball...he had one nice full court drive after a Wall basket but that was it...

Warren was Non-existent on offense that first quarter but mostly because he didnt touch it, i did think he played pretty solid defensively...glad to hear he started getting more aggressive later in the game..

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

i didn't say tiny was floating around the 3 pt. line, but he wasn't living in the paint either. he drifted out to the arc several times after setting a screen for nelson, one of which led to his 3. after that, it's clear the coaches told him to post up, and he did. but he forced his offense, didn't pass, and came out of the game for good after his third post up. hopefully tonight he won't press as much and learns to pass back out and re-post.

as for willie, he looked the most ready of any of the clips to play right away. did a great job fighting through screens when running around guarding nick young, and made some nice entry passes into the post. he ran the offense well when given the chance, made good cuts after passing into the post and had a nice steal at halfcourt that he couldn't control going out of bounds. looking forward to see how he follows it up in tomorrow night's game.

Bledsoe looked like WW at the point for OU last year. A bunch of out of control plays mixed in with a nice pass or two.

willie signed by clips...

CLIPPERS SIGN 2010 SECOND ROUND PICK WILLIE WARREN
July 13, 2010

The Los Angeles Clippers have signed guard Willie Warren, their second round selection (54th overall) in the 2010 NBA Draft.

The University of Oklahoma product was an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 selection as a sophomore in 2009-10, averaging a team-high 16.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 32.3 minutes per game while appearing in 21 contests.

A former teammate of current Clipper forward Blake Griffin at Oklahoma in 2008-09, Warren enjoyed a stellar freshman campaign that saw the Dallas, Texas native win the Big 12 Freshman of the Year award and average 14.6 points and 3.1 assists in 32.3 minutes per game while playing in 36 games.

An explosive, creative scorer with exceptional speed, the 6-foot-4, 203 pound Warren was a Second Team All-Big 12 selection in 2008-09 and was a First Team Freshman All-American while setting Oklahoma freshman records for games started (34) and three-pointers made (67).

Warren, along with fellow Clipper rookies Al-Farouq Aminu and Eric Bledsoe, is a member of the Clippers’ entry in the 2010 NBA Summer League, currently taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

Awesome news for WW...hope he does well...

We will probably see him quite a bit in the NBDL this season but who knows...maybe he will earn some burn

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

The excellent DraftExpress.com predicted Bledsoe would struggle mightily at point. The writers (mainly Jonathon Givony) watch just about every second of game tape from prospective draftees, and extensively breakdown their strengths and weakness in every situation for example Bledsoe at pg when Wall was on bench. (He also watched the U18 USA team coached by Capel and had good things to say about his coaching and direction of a group of short-term teammates.)

I understand the comparisons of Bledsoe and Westbrook, but I still think Westbrook's success recently has set up future drafting mistakes by teams thinking they can convert strong athletic guards who aren't tall into true pg. Most of the time cramming undersized guards with explosive ability into pg of a team is like squares put into circular holes.

I haven't looked, but Bledsoe doesn't appear to be a long as Westbrook. Maybe he is, it just didn't look that way. Doesn't appear to be nearly as strong either...

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

WW will be on a NBA roster at some point. I doubt Tiny ever makes it.

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

Also I must have missed TMG's stats from the Summer League. How did he do LOL?

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

What purpose does this serve?

To take a shot at someone that everyone believes made a poor decision. It was just a minor shot as compared to what UK fans are doing to Orton.
