GAME 15 - OKLAHOMA (11-3) @ Mississippi State (9-5) 6:00pm CST on SECNETWORK

yeah...there has to be at least one stat that shows we won the game tonight
The funny thing is, the stats TEvans and a couple others post have shown us all season how bad we are defensively and what our flaws are. Look at Torvik. Coming into tonight, our defense was dragging us down so far in the rankings. We never play a full game. Our players don’t care enough to compete hard consistently and our coach enables it.

Well it’s a long list. Davis should never be allowed to shoot threes. Ever. I don’t turn on Houston and see Tugler shooting threes. Again, look at his career numbers. This isn’t an aberration. He absolutely sucks as a shooter.

He wasted six minutes playing Dayton tonight when it was a close game. Dayton hasn’t hit a three since Nov 15 and is averaging about 1 or 2 points over his last 7 games. He gives us nothing.

His team melted down and turned the ball over like crazy. Sloppy mistakes, poor rebounding, dumb fouls. All hallmarks of bad coaching.

Rogers played some quality minutes in the first half, including on defense. Didn’t get much run in the second half.

And more broadly, our team was yet again completely unfocused and discombobulated. Again, coaching.
i would change your first to never other then wide open late clock corner 3's .. anything else he goes to the bench .

Davis shooting threes should lead to a new phrase in place of heat check. It’s a cold check when he shoots. As in, is he merely chilly (a shot that is in and out) or ice cold (brick that leads to a runout).

Legitimately the only thing I can think of is that he thinks shooting threes will improve his pro prospects, but that’s something a real coach would address. The priority is winning games, not helping one guy get to the G League.

makes me think of the phrase "better to be thought a fool then open your mouth and remove all doubt"

don't shoot them they might think he can .... he is showing he can't

For someone that did not play at a high level, what is our issue with shooting home versus away? Is there usually a difference in percentages like we have? Not talking being outplayed or hustle, just shooting and free throw. Can you coach that out of players?

In the NBA it’s well known that role players are much better at home, but I think in our case, the home numbers are inflated by the level of competition. You are essentially running offense against air in those games. We shot ok in some of the road and neutral games, but generally speaking, toughness is a key element to being a good road team. And when you don’t shoot well, at least be tough enough to compete for 40 minutes defensively, not just 20. Our rebounding was back to the woeful level of previous years tonight.

won't be shocked if we lose our next 5
And even if he is right and we win Saturday, in the big picture does it matter if we flounder our way to another 7-11 or 8-10 season that ends without a tourney bid? Some posters somehow think every single win is a sign things have turned around, despite five years of evidence showing otherwise.
