GAME 5 FINAL (B4A) - OKLAHOMA (5-0) BEATS PROVIDENCE (5-1) 79-77 - Next game tomorrow vs Arizona

I want my best defenders on the floor with length. 3.7 is still enough time for a deep throw quick basket and foul.
Sorry buddy.....agree to disagree on this one. Not near enough time....it's difficult enough to get decent pass in and a dribble/shoot going 90+ feet. I'm not saying it hasn't ever happened.....but you play the percentages and just let the game end. And BTW, they inbounded it in the back court after the FT and were already dribbling when play was stopped.

He was barely halfway to the scorers table by the time the inbound pass was made. If you’re gonna do that, you should’ve been prepared. It was also unnecessary. Not sure why you’re so triggered about that aside from wanting to disagree with someone else on this board. It’s just a fact. Moser did a lot of good stuff today, but that last 38 seconds was horrific
Cole was running back off the court. He was there!

The fan base seems split. Half are OU fans and the other half hate Moser so much, they attack at every opportunity.
Cant discuss the game without some one whining. Only sunshine and rainbows on this board.

I'm pumped about the win but that was terrible and worthy of discussion despite the board police's best efforts

That seems highly unlikely. I've been watching basketball since the early 1970s, and what you described I have never seen. Throwing the ball downcourt is a risk in and of itself since there is a strong probability the defense will at least tip the ball. Providence was trying to get a halfcourt shot in hopes of getting a foul call while the ball goes in. There just isn't much you can do in 3.7 seconds when you have to inbound from your own basket.

On another note, did Goodine look 100% while he was out there?

I think you’re seeing what you want to, man. In any event, would it not made sense for us to sub Cole in after the FIRST free throw make if we wanted defensive length on the floor? As in, when there was a possibility for a miss on the second free throw and we wanted length to disrupt the shot?

It’s okay to say he overcoached there. He did some good things today and managed a lot of foul trouble pretty well. Also benched arguably our best player for most of the second half when he wasn’t playing well. But you have to acknowledge both the good and the bad and he was bad in that situation.

Exactly this. Get him to the table and sub him between the two shots. If he misses, you have your good defender on the floor for whenever you want to remove. If he makes, you can tell all five players to go stand by the cheerleaders. There was only one way for that game to possibly be lost, and it was with a blunder of that magnitude.

Subbing in for elvis I would assume.

Subbing got Elvis I would assume.
Possibly, but still, get him to the table before he even shoots the first shot and simply tell the table he is subbing for the shooter. But again, once he made the first, there was no reason to sub for Elvis on another make. Without exaggeration, you could truly take any five of us from this board, stick us on the court with a two-possession lead, three seconds left, and the opponent having to go the length of the floor, and we wouldn’t have any chance of losing unless we decided to tackle someone.

Lost in all of this is the fact that Elvis (who was brilliant today) either lost track of the score or didn’t realize that we didn’t want to foul if he made both.

Okay this made me laugh.

You are correct. But if you've read this board much you know some posters do nothing but whine and complain.
