GAME 5 FINAL (B4A) - OKLAHOMA (5-0) BEATS PROVIDENCE (5-1) 79-77 - Next game tomorrow vs Arizona

With all the end of game griping we just beat a pretty solid opponent with Jalon Moore not being a big factor. The talent on this team is improved, obviously just need to play smarter but the guard play is real. We can beat Davidson/AZ tomorrow.

The fan base seems split. Half are OU fans and the other half hate Moser so much, they attack at every opportunity.
can’t imagine the reaction had moser actually made a substitution error as bad as mark few did in the previous game. the meltdown would raise the earth’s temp a degree at least.

IDK. I have often criticized Moser but I am cutting him a little slack on this Might have been overthinking but I also don’t expect a college player (nor HS player) to just run out on the floor without being waved in. I don’t expect any coach to include that possibility as part of his strategy. And I also don’t think he told anyone to foul on that made FT. Luckily, they couldn’t count both boneheaded moves and we almost lost anyway.

What happened there?

That seems highly unlikely. I've been watching basketball since the early 1970s, and what you described I have never seen. Throwing the ball downcourt is a risk in and of itself since there is a strong probability the defense will at least tip the ball. Providence was trying to get a halfcourt shot in hopes of getting a foul call while the ball goes in. There just isn't much you can do in 3.7 seconds when you have to inbound from your own basket.

Been apart of a comeback with 4 seconds left down by 4...actually made the game tying 3 to send it into OT.

Also been apart of a loss in a similar situation. It absolutely does happen.

Reggie Miller had 8 pts in 9 secs.

So agree to disagree.

If Moser gets us to 800 straight tourneys, a few Final Fours, and is universally regarded as one of the best coaches alive, we will give him some slack. But the mistake Few made is one I’ve seen others make. Meanwhile, the ESPN crew is still talking about how neither they nor the refs have ever seen our massive blunder before.

I think you’re seeing what you want to, man. In any event, would it not made sense for us to sub Cole in after the FIRST free throw make if we wanted defensive length on the floor? As in, when there was a possibility for a miss on the second free throw and we wanted length to disrupt the shot?

It’s okay to say he overcoached there. He did some good things today and managed a lot of foul trouble pretty well. Also benched arguably our best player for most of the second half when he wasn’t playing well. But you have to acknowledge both the good and the bad and he was bad in that situation.
He was subbing for the shooter.
Coaching 101. You don’t send him till ref throws the ball: don’t want the shooter to be thinking “I’m going out here”

There is no need to sub for the shooter after he makes the first. If he had missed the first then there certainly was because you want to foul on a make and it is much easier to do that with a set defense. That said, we made 2 boneheaded moves and they were both on players, not the coach. Luckily the first move undid the second move.

Man, if you have players that let that affect them they shouldn’t be on the team. That is such a horrible reason to not be prepared for a sub. It just wasn’t good enough

What were the specifics in your game? Did it involve a foul?

lol so all those times coaches do exactly that … they are all the idiots and Moser is playing chess? I’m sure Elvis would have been absolutely devastated coming out of the game with three seconds left after icing the game at the line. Probably would never recover.
