NORMAN – No. 21/21 Oklahoma hosts Alcorn on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:01 p.m. CT inside McCasland Field House for the annual Student Appreciation Game. The contest will air on the Sooner Sports Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM The Franchise in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing and be broadcast by SEC Network+ with Chad McKee (PxP) and Bryndon Manzer (analyst) on the call.

OU - 31.5 o/u 138.5

Was just reviewing some stats and I’m not sure if they could paint any more damning of a picture on our predicament at the 5 spot than they do. As far as opponent statistics allowed goes, OU is currently at or above the 70th percentile in almost every category except for a few. The ones we are struggling in along with the percentile they fall in:

  • Off Rebound % allowed (32nd percentile)
  • % of points allowed in the paint (27th percentile)
  • % points on second chance (22nd percentile)
  • Opponent 2 point % (36th percentile)
  • Block % (34th percentile)
So we are allowing too many offensive boards, giving up too many points at the basket and second chance points, and in the bottom half of CFB in block %.

On the bright side, we are doing a good job of forcing teams to take a ton of threes and defending it well. We are in the 18th percentile in 3 point attempt rate allowed (meaning teams take a ton of threes against us), but opponents are only connecting on 26.5% of their 3s putting us in the 96th percentile (ELITE) in that category. If one thing is for certain, Moser knows some voodoo on how to defend the 3.

If you want to see another scary number, go to Sports Reference and check out the advanced stats for Sam. His OBPM is -1.7.

We just have to limit Offensive rebounds. I dont care about blocks, but we can do better on rebounding.

Coaches need to take a canoe paddle and force Sam to make 20 2 ft shots in a row while being challenged and fouled with the paddle. His concentration at the basket will improve.

What kind of pass was that from Sam? Luckily we saved it but missed anyway. They are making everything.

Our D hasn’t been stellar either. I kind of like 5 replacements to send a message

Not a great start. Like the way Forsythe is playing

25 points in 8 min they are only shooting 90% and 100% from 3 ..

lol
