No, that’s not really what happened. We fell behind by nine less than four minutes into the game because, as Moser himself said, the starters didn’t come out competing on defense. The second unit got us back in the game so he stayed with them for a lot of the first half. Forsythe made some shots in the first half and Moser liked Wague’s energy so he stayed with them.
The second half was the opposite. The starters looked great and built a huge lead in the first five minutes, but the bench came in and played fairly sloppy. The game was never in jeopardy but it was a pretty blah effort and it counts the same in KenPom and the other per-possession metrics as it would on March 7.
