Top 5 in the Big 12.... book it.

"I must break you"--Polla

By the way does anybody know when practices start for the New Zealand trip?

I'm glad you mentioned Polla. He may be the wild card on this team. One thing is certain, most of the teams OU will face next season will not be able to match his size or move him out of position on the inside.

I think Jordan Shepherd is going to play a bunch at the 2 guard position and James at the 2/3. Lazenby would be the 6th guard that hopefully doesn't get a ton of minutes.

Put Manek on the "4" line and Polla on the "5" line and I think you have hit it square on the head.

Looks solid to me.

Questions will be (1) just how good is Trae; (2) whether the kids have improved some (Doolittle, Mcgusty, shep and freeman); (3) whether Mcnease and Lattin can be a tougher inside presence; (4) and whether the kids have put in the work to be better.

You never know with kids regarding whether they have the drive and persistence to be good, but Lon has a proven record of getting kids to improve, so I am hopeful.

I thought when you said "Get out of our way" that you meant we were gonna be like top 2 in the Big 12, not Top 5 that's half the league lol

I would rather be in the top five than the bottom five, wouldn't you? ;)

top-5 in this league is a good finish. this is gonna be a tough conference.

Exactly. A top five finish will all but guarantee OU will be back in the NCAA tourney. I, for one, would have been thrilled with that last season.

as optimistic and positive as I am I would be rather surprised and disturbed if this group didnt make the tourney. I will certainly understand if bad things happen ... but all things going halfway decent I expect that for this group. I didnt expect that last year.

100%. I was just sayin that if the headline is get out if our way, then we're coming after KU :D

Agreed. 5th out of 10 is tolerable from time to time, but we shouldn't consistently finish below anybody other than KU.

While the starting 5 looks intriguingly good the test will still be the inevitable "who can come off the bench and provide solid minutes," such that sizable leads are not squandered.

I would add Texas to that comment. They have no excuse to not finish second (or first) every year. They have a MUCH better class coming in than KU. They have a top 5 player this year coming in, and will be a force. OU will be much improved, however! So that is a huge positive!

I feel that, historically, we've been a better program than Texas. They do have all the resources to be a great team, though.

Exactly! Texas has underachieved with the talent they bring in for years. Nothing I have seen so far since Shaka's arrival makes me believe that will change. Maybe it will, but I'll have to see it to believe it.
