Gioya

Thanks for the update. That would be a big hit to the season, but, yes she does need to get healthy.

Don't be surprised if she redshirts this year. Gotta get healthy

Just like it would be a big blow to the team not to have Gabbi or Peyton, it will be a big blow if we don't have Gioya this year.

Wow, that would be a big loss for the team this year. I knew she was injured in some way, but must have missed the details.

Can you give us some idea about what has happened and what kind of rehab she is having to do?

If true, this might be a good thing for Gioya. Maddie, Peyton, and even Gileysa have had an opportunity to sit on the bench near the coach and watch what develops on the floor. It seems to assist them in learning what they can do on the court relative to the offenses and defenses presented. With two years on the floor, I wonder if she wouldn't benefit by imagining herself on the floor in a given situation and watch how others handle it.

Man, this program has the worst luck with injuries :/

But Syb is right -- Sherri does a phenomenal job at teaching, keeping up morale, and helping our injured players make the most of their situation.

Thats really not good. The Gioya matchup, whether she's on or not is one of the reasons why we're good. Now were going to run into some games where we need an athletic, physical guard- I hope we have an answer. We aren't the same team without her, that I know....

However, if she redshirts and Maddie takes her medical. That leaves us with Gioya, Maddie, Gabbi as seniors in two years, Plus all the bigs we have been recruiting. I can't dislike the thought of that.

She and Vivi are my favorite players. I hate this. Someone had posted that she had a groin injury. Whatever her injury, is it the type that could always affect her in some slight way?

Her pelvic area has been giving her some issues since she fractured it. At the moment she's only at 40%. If she's not 100% by conference play then she'll redshirt. She my cousin so I'm just not on here chattering.

I sure hope she makes a full recovery. I was expecting her to be a stud this year.

Hate that she might not get to play this season but being healthy is key! Would hate for her to try and play and not 100% and waste a season

Always good to hear from you Mr. Carter.

Do you think this injury might be a bit similar to what Sterling Shepherd had to deal with last year? He really had a hard time getting over that, but seems fully recovered this year.

That's really tough news, both for Gioya and for the team. Your little cousin is one of my 2-3 favorite players, Mr. Carter. At least a few of us saw her talent and potential during her freshman season, then she really blossomed last year and became one of the best players on our team.

Whatever is best for Gioya is what's important. I hope she's able to play and contribute. But if she's not, I'll be looking forward to watching her next year on what could be one of the better teams in the Big 12.

I had no idea she had been injured. Was the injury basketball related? OU needs her.

We would really miss her abilities this year, but better to get her healthy.
However, can you imagine her as a senior with Gabbi, Penzo and Mulkey if she did redshirt?
Just do what is best for Gioya.

I hate this but I hope she waits until she is 100 percent, even if she red-shirts.
I hate for players to take risks. I am going to miss her. She is the reason I go to games. I guess I will have to find someone else to follow this year.

OT: She is one of three current players who I believe could make it in the WNBA. All would have to step up their games but believe all three capable of doing so.

She'll be back stronger and better than ever!!

We won't know until January for sure!

I'd much rather that she sit out year and get healthy and confident than risk aggravating an injury.
