Football team is just brutal. The offense is atrocious. Can't wait for the basketball team to get going and with recruiting picking up, things look exciting for the future.

I'm with you man. I'm ready to get this going. Hopefully we have something to feel good about after the game tomorrow, after what the football team just did.

Brutal? That is a bit harsh. They likely only lose 3 regular season games. Not bad for a rebuilding year with a QB that shouldn't be starting.

I'm absolutely with you on this. I've become so apathetic with football because I see a program that hasn't won an outright Big 12 title 4 of the last 5 years. And haven't really been in the national conversation in 5 years. We are reaping the effects of complacency, laziness, and substandard recruiting over the last several years. It is a program in decline right now.

Having said that, I see the basketball program moving in a positive direction and I'm excited about what Kruger is doing. I'm definitely ready for basketball.:OUbball-logo:

The offense is basically made not to succeed against teams worth a damn. It's a short passing offense with a power run game. Teams can just put as many in the box as they want and have no reason to worry about the pass game.

OU football fans might be the most spoiled group in the country. Some have a complete lack of perspective.

I tend to agree with this. Although we aren't winning NC's, getting ten wins most seasons is pretty incredible. It could be, and probably will be at some time, so much worse.

But basketball is finally here!

Losing in football is not the issue. Its how bad we lose that is. If OU goes 9-3, its still a good year. But it diffently feels different if you are not in any of the games you lose.

Its like basketball. I can handle losing in most cases. But a 25 point defeat when it looks like our kids didn't show up or quit is when I take it bad.

How did our kids not show up yesterday? I know the score got a little lopsided, but we were in the game until the 4th quarter, and were winning what, midway through the 2nd quarter? It's not like we have issues all over the field. It's really as simple as needing last year's offense, with this year's defense. That is a team that has a chance to get through the regular season with 0-1 loss. Mike is rebuilding the defense. I don't worry about them going forward. But for one of the first times under Bob, our offense is pretty bad. And that starts at QB. Blame the coaches for not having somebody ready to go, but the fact is, we're getting terrible QB play for the first time since Paul Thompson. Bell definitely isn't the answer. I thought Knight might be, but he choked when given the chance. I don't think KT is the answer either. That means we have to wait on Thomas/Hansen. Those of you that expect immediate results, don't understand football. It takes a year or two to cycle changes through a team. We are seeing that with Mike and the D this year. I think we'll see it in terms of recruiting with the new coaches in a year or so. Bedenbaugh is already locking up some pretty good lineman for the 2014 and 2015 classes. But those guys don't win games this year. And they probably don't outplay our current oline as freshmen. It takes time.

My comment on not showing up is more in general and geared more to Basketball. One person has an off night in basketball you can lose. In football ( unless its the quarterback) you can get away with an off night from one.

Personally I thaught we would lose the OU- Baylor game. And the final score realy does not concern me. What made the game bad for me was the offence inability to move the ball for most of the game. If the offence would have sustained some drives and we ended up punting with no points I would not be happy but could live with that. For most of the game our best offense was penaltys on the bears. For most of the football game we looked like we had no clue what to do both execution and coaching. Now Baylor does deserve some credit for that.

I want to beat Baylor so badly that Scott Drew falls to the floor again

I just think its funny that college sports fans expect the success in earlier generations to be a given today. The amount of talented, trained athletes who are able to play at a collegiate level has grown tremendously. The talent pool is deeper, therefore, greater parody.
