In what has to be one of the most bizarre college basketball stories I can ever remember, Duke has suspended Grayson Allen indefinitely because he tripped another player!!!

I can't recall anything like this, a guy seriously endangering his career for absolutely no reason. I'm thinking there legitimately may be mental illness involved.

The tripping is bizarre enough, but the little sissy baby crazy spoiled psychotic temper tantrum he threw on the bench was off the chain. That dude may need help.

He earned the suspension. ESPN reporters said last night this was the third time he has intentionally tripped or kicked an opposing player. If this incident had not received so much attention nationally, makes me wonder if Coach K would have come down hard on him this time? The reporters also said he wasn't suspended for the first two.

Yeah, I have far less problems with his tripping than he general brat attitude.

The tripping is part-and-parcel of the brat attitude. Only a pouty brat does stuff like that. Once he gets under control, the tripping will stop.

What's weird is that I don't think he did anything like this prior to last year. I wonder if something happened in his personal life to cause him to act out like this. He may need counseling of some sort because behavior like this isn't normal of people once they get past about 8 years old. It may be a sign of some sort of mental illness.

I don't say that casually, as if to mock him. As someone who's experienced depression, I know that acting acting out irrationally can be a characteristic of someone battling mental illness of some sort. But he needs to get himself well, whatever that means.

well, he certainly is doing his part to continue the duke white boy stereotype

The dude is a spoiled punk. Tripping 3 times then flopping about it then being a total ahole on the bench. I normally respect coach k, but he lost any on not suspending him last hr for the 2nd time. Then playing him after this 3rd one.

He acted like an effin baby on the bench! I would not want that loser on my team. Pathetic.

I agree it's obvious that the kid has problems and is in serious need of help. I also agree that he should not play again until he can get his emotions under control and stop tripping opposing players.

However, I wondered (when I watched footage of the incident) if Allen's display on the bench might have been his way of expressing anger at himself for losing control again. Anyone else think that is a possibility?

That's how I read it, too. He definitely needs some help. Perhaps taking the rest of the season off (not as a punitive measure, but just to take him out of the spotlight as he seeks counseling or other professional help) would be the thing.

Let him play some games in the NBA, that should take care of it.

His reaction tell me he is on drugs

He'll fit right in the NBA, draymond green loses control all the time 😂

Anyone surprised the indefinite suspension lasted one game? And he didn't even come off the bench, he started.

With Capel running the show for the next 4 weeks figured he would be back sooner rather than later, but one game?

Pffft
