Great win, but I don't get...

When James receives a pass the first thing he wants to do is pass the ball immediately.

Agreed. Sometimes Walker is too anxious to shoot. "Shot hunting" is a term I copied from another poster: Seymore Cox.

I think James is too afraid of making a mistake.

He was a huge spark off the bench in the first half. He came in and gave us 5 quick points.

In his first run, he came in and Niang immediately scored on him. 2 minutes later Morris hit a 3 over him. But then he had a nice drive for 2 and a 3 from the corner. Then Nader hit a 3 over him. Played about 10 minutes, scored 5, gave up 8. And score went from OU up 2, to OU down 2.(-4)

His 2nd run came after the first tv time out of 2nd half. OU up 12. He missed a couple open 3s early in the shot clock. Uneventful besides that. Left 4 minutes later, OU up 8. (-4)

3rd run came with 7 min left. OU up 9. He made his last bucket. ISU took momentum. Kruger took him out at 4 min mark. OU up 6. (-3)

His last run came with 90 seconds left. He went in for Lattin. OU up 6.

For whatever reason the guy just leaks leads. All conference year long.

I'm not a big Walker fan at all but he did some good things tonight. By far his biggest mistake was his throw in to Cousins that went straight out of bounds in the 2nd half. He hit some big shots especially a driving jumper when ISU was making their run.

Stop ragging on Walker he did alright. We need his contribution off the bench. 7 pts tonight was great. Manyang looked lighter and more mobile than usual. could get more minutes. Buford looks to score too soon in the clock. Relax move and not depend on the three. james is a future star so is odomes along with mcgusty next year. a very athletic team next year.

This team tomorrow night might be in a little bit of a pickel with the press from wv. i hav e been on woodard for a while he needs to penetrate more and create like a good pg. Spangler has too just shoot the 3 when he is open, 14/10 night we will win. this team has too trust each other more and not depend on buddy. other teams wil pick ou apart in the big tourney next week. Focus, play d, and trust and keep passing for the open shot.

He gives effort and is an above average 3 pt shooter. And he is experienced. Lon likes experience. The only other option is Christian james. He will be a much better player but right now, I'd rather have walker in there in the dance

I'm not saying we win tongiht, but we haven't really had any issues with the press this year

Had 2 turnovers late, in like 30 seconds. But were his only 2 of the night.

6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals. Steady!

He went 3 for 11 and had two HUGE turnovers in crunch time with Iowa state nipping at our heals. He wasn't solid or steady . He had a below average game , as did Woodard .

Walker was fine, he is there to give the starting 3 a rest. This team has zero depth, not much Lon can do.

James isn't ready and you're not going to trust him in these type of situations. If OU was going to the NIT, you'd be seeing a lot more James over Walker.

Of course his plus minus isn't going to be great, he plays when our starters (who are significantly better than him) are resting. The game does not fall apart when Walker is in the game, and that's all we need. He's not a great player, but he fills his role, and Christian James isn't there yet to take his minutes. Walker isn't a liability, and allows us to actually rest our starters. Quit ripping on the kid.

Walker was 3-5 for 7 points and a steal in 17 minutes.

In 4 minutes of action, James did nothing. He had no stats at all.

Walker arguably played better than Woodard tonight. Offensively, there's no question Walker played better, but Jordan contributed a bit defensively.

Every year, there's a guy or two that get ragged on by some fans. Walker's the guy this year, with Spangler occasionally coming in for his share. Walker's a role player and he's filled that role fairly ably. He certainly did tonight.

Don't let facts get in the way of OU haters.

There have been a lot of games where questioning Walker's minutes might make sense. Last night wasn't one of them.

I like James too, and he did come in and play really good defense for a possession or two, but I outside of bringing him (James) in to lock down a guy that is going off, I think you have to give the nod to Walker. Walker handles the ball better two, which keeps us with essentially two pg's on the floor when he is in for Woodard or Cousins.

This was bad timing for this thread. Walker can drive everyone crazy at times, but I thought he contributed and gave us a boost last night. But only one thing is certain with Walker.....you never know what you're going to get from him game to game.

Well stated.

Actually Cousins was 4 for 11, and had 2 turnovers all game while playing PG for 34 minutes. He also had 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and played good defense. I thought he had the 3rd best game of any Sooner after Buddy and Ryan.

He outplayed ISU's PG who was 1st team all-conference.

You can believe what you want, but I disagree with you. I wish he had hit 1 or 2 more shots, but I was OK with his overall game.

I think it does. Our starters are good enough to usually overcome it.

And a very valid argument could be made much of the problem is his minutes are often synced with a back-up big coming in off the bench.

If you're looking for an amateur stat, definitely go with +/-.

It's far from perfect but when his number is such an anomaly, compared with the rest of the team, it leads me to believe there is something to it.
