Walker has contributed and deserves minutes. James has played poorly at times. It's not black and white difference between the two. But walker is usually more steady.. last night however, he played like an 8th grader
This has a lot to do with Walker and Cousins but...
James played a lot off the bench and did very well. After Walker was subbed in, coach Kruger called a timeout and replaced Walker with Christian James once A&M had cut into the lead.
Cousins had a bad game, and Walker had a bad call against him and didn't really play great while James stepped up. Coach Kruger subbed C. James in for Walker at that time and it was the right decision.
At the end of the day, I want Cousins and Walker to both get minutes and contribute to the result (a W). I didn't feel like either added a lot last night (I really felt like OU played twice as good with Cousins on the bench), but I want to see both do great and succeed, especially as seniors. But if we're going off of last night, Cousins is on a short leash, and James is my first off the bench.
I really, really want to see the seniors take this team to the Final Four though.
The last 4 regular season conference games plus the 2 games in the B12 conference and the 2 NCAA tournament games had Walker playing an average of 10.6 minutes while James played 8.9 minutes. In the last 4 games James has had games of 13 points (WVU) and 12 points (aTm). For certain James' minutes are more than token.
I swear, people are always reaching to try and make Cousins look bad. A lot of OU fans treat him the same way they treated Landry Jones.
Cousins didn't have a bad game yesterday. He shot poorly, but didn't take double digit attempts. And he had a couple bad turnovers. But he also had 8 assists, at least a half dozen more hockey assists, 4 rebounds, and played solid to great defense when he was on the court. That's nowhere near a bad game.

And yet LK felt the need to play Cousins the fewest minutes he has played in a game this year since before Christmas. That's at least somewhat telling, right?
