Cezar Guerrero’s official visit to the University of Iowa is back on again.

Guerrero’s brother, Joe Guerrero, told HawkeyeReport.com on Wednesday that Cezar had made arrangements so he could visit Iowa this weekend.

The 5-foot-11 Guerrero, who is from Bellflower, Calif., had postponed his visit to Iowa because his film/cinema class at St. John Bosco High School is scheduled to work on a mid-term project Saturday morning.

“He worked it out with his teacher,” Joe Guerrero told HawkeyeReport.com. “He actually kind of begged the teacher a little bit to move the mid-term project to later this week so he could make the visit to Iowa.”

Cezar Guerrero is expected to arrive in Iowa City on Friday and leave on Sunday. Iowa will be the fourth school that Guerrero has visited.

He already has taken visits to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Western Kentucky, where he once was committed.

Joe Guerrero told HawkeyeReport.com that Iowa coach Fran McCaffery made a nice impression by attending Cezar’s final high school game last week. McCaffery was believed to be the only head coach at the game.

Cezar Guerrero treated McCaffery to a 30-point performance during his team’s four-point loss.

“The fact that he came all the way out here was big,” Joe Guerrero told HawkeyeReport.com.

Cezar Guerrero is ranked the No. 61 prospect in the 2011 senior class by Rivals.com.

McCaffery would like to sign two players this spring after landing two high school seniors in November, including 6-5 shooting guard Josh Oglesby from Cedar Washington High School.

Not feeling very confident in a commit from him. Hope I'm wrong. We need pg help in a bad way.

I think a good sign for OU would be him going there and saying some really glowing things about Iowa afterwards. Use we in a sentence or something, then its a sign of his OSU visit being the typical I just finished a visit and I'm glowing about the program.

I'd be willing to be that he doesn't go to OU or Iowa. I bet he goes somewhere more flashy.

I may be alone on this, but I'd rather have a JUCO pg come in.

One with some size.

why not both.

A couple of reasons.

I doubt Guerrero wants to go somewhere and be a backup for two years.

It would also give us Guerrero, the JUCO pg, Blair, and Newell all on the same roster. I'm not as high on Newell as some folks are. I don't see him getting major minutes at SG on a good team.

I'm sure Guerrero would be fine by his soph/jr year. We cannot wait that long. This team needs to turn things around next year, unless Capel is gone, then it's a fresh rebuild. I just don't think we can make the Dance next year with Guerrero as our starting pg, unless Capel lands a stud SG to start along side him.

JMO.

Interesting....but do you think that Guerrero is one of those players that can play some 2? He is a scorer. And also, even if we did bring in a juco pg...theres no guarantee that he will be better than Guerrero.

To me, you NEVER count on being able to use a kid that size at SG. If it turns out he can, great, but more often then not, that doesn't work out. From all I've heard, he is a pg that can score, not a kid you'd consider moving to the wing.

Truth be told, there is no easy answer to any recruiting questions this year. Our situation is THAT bad, IMO. If ever there was a year where we needed a recruit like a Corey Brewer, a Nolan Johnson, or an Ebi Ere.....a JUCO SG/SF that can fill it up, it's this year. And I just don't see us in on any.

Like I said, if our situation was better, I'd probably like the Guerrero kid more. I just don't think he turns our team around next year, and I'm still holding out hope for that type of recruit.

I would figure Guerrero would split time with Blair at PG if he is here next year. I also don't know what to expect from Newell next year. He's the wildcard in this equation.

If we get Guerrero, I'd be surprised if we sign another PG. Unless we sign the JCPG before Guerrero as a hedge. If we got both, Newell might be inclined to transfer.

i would hope not. Moving him to the 2 would be great.

Not a chance Newell transfers.

Why not? He won't get pg minutes, and he'd be at best the backup at SG, and hopefully 3rd string.

Not saying I WANT him to transfer, I really don't have an opinion, but I could see it playing out that way, with the right incoming recruits.
