At this point, anyone who claims to "know" is just speculating.

I've said since the beginning of the season that Capel would be back based on what I've heard from people close to the program so long as the team played hard and their were no off-court issues.

THEN Chewy dropped a bomb and at that point I realized all bets are off...that said, I don't take Joe C.'s "no comment" as anything other than just the way he operates. He isn't going to talk about a coach or their future in the media.

I tend to think Jeff gets another year and I certainly have no inside information but I don't understand why Joe C. would not give him at least a minor vote of confidence to stop the speculation.

For example, yesterday Joe C. could have said "We will make a final decision and comment at the end of the season (or appropriate time) but I am not really sure why there is such speculation that OU is going to replace its coach. Certainly this season is below an acceptable level for OU baksetball but under the circumstances that the team faced, I am not sure it is entirely fair to suggest a coach would or should be fired."

His flat no comment leads me to believe he has not made up his mind but is leaning towards a change because it fuels the fire.

The last I saw, Chewy said things were "50/50" as opposed to the sure thing that Capel will be back that most thought. Is that accurate or was there new information?

this morning one ex-OU athlete bigwig told me he was staying...then an hour later another ex-OU athlete bigwig told me he was going.
