Harkless

I've been impressed with Alondes so far this year besides a few turnovers. He seems to be playing larger and attacking. I do realize that things will get tougher than the FAMU Rattlers but hope he keeps playing within himself and contributing.

My main concern with Williams is his defense has been very below average. It was very apparent in the game against Xavier.

Id think Xavier game wasnt on Williams... It was a collective effort.

We'll see how 3pt def is tonight. ORU can shoot it!

I can't disagree. He got lost and left a dude wide open against FAMU. Hope it gets better..

It can’t be any worse. You’re 100% correct in saying our poor defense in the Xavier game was a collective effort. Just as good defense is a team effort, so, too, is bad defense. The Xavier game was a perfect example.

Watch replays of our games so far this season and you’ll see why our perimeter defense breaks down. Players like Harmon, Hill, Reaves, Phipps and Gibson are quick to the ball because they’re already on the move before or as a pass is being executed.

Kur, Williams and Manek’s reaction time is too slow sometimes. Manek is the main culprit in the breakdown of our perimeter defense. He seems to think good perimeter D is practicing social distancing on a three point shooter, or rushing to guard someone with his hand up in the air when he’s caught out of position. I saw him do that three times in the final minutes of the TCU game, a game we might have lost if TCU players could shoot better. I’m not trying to pick on Brady. He’s having a great season, and I’m glad he’s a Sooner. But, the truth is, he is not a good defender, especially when it comes to guarding the perimeter.

Which is why he will never be an NBA player. He will make money in Europe. There is literally no one in the NBA he could guard.

Okay, who do you think he could guard in the NBA? Effectively guard by the way, let's specify that even though I assumed it goes without saying.

Lamarcus Aldridge, Serge Ibaka, Gallinari, Kevin Love, Derrick Favors, Demarcus Cousins. I'm sure there's more but that's just a start off the top.

You think Brady Manek could effectively guard Serge Ibaka or Lamarcus Alrdidge? That's fantasy land.

It's all conjecture for we'll never know, but I agree with the guy who goes by the name Steve.

Why don’t we all spend some time watching Brady on the defensive end tonight? If he does a good job of guarding the three point line, I will gladly apologize.

And, for the record, I’m a Brady Manek fan. Nothing would please me more than to see him come back next year.

But even if he does, that will not change my opinion that he is not good at defending the perimeter. He plays too far off of his man, no doubt hoping he can use his size and length to close the gap. Running at someone with your hand up in the air is not my idea of good defense. It’s a desperate attempt to distract the shooter.

Your stance on his defense was never based on one game, but a collection of games, so we should not conclude that one game (ORU) changes things. Don't worry if you offend someone when your position is strong enough to bring it to the attention of others. If they don't see eye to eye then tough on them.

TJ Leaf and Steve Novak came to my mind and I didn’t have to think too long

Also Daniel Otura from the Clippers a second round pick who signed a guaranteed deal with Clips. Brady outplayed him last year head to head when OU best Minnesota
