Has Jawanza Poland actually eliminated OU?

I know he cancelled his visit, but does anyone know why exactly? Carter cancelled his visit and immediately committed to Gonzaga. I have scoured the 'net and I cannot find anything to indicate that Poland has committed to anyone as of yet. He did have the South Florida logo as his Facebook picture for a couple of days but that has been removed. Furthermore, hadn't he visited OU multiple times in the past? Perhaps he just didn't feel like another visit was necessary? I know it certainly doesn't bode well for us that he cancelled the visit but I also haven't seen anything to indicate that he has "officially" eliminated us from consideration. Does anyone have anything further on this?

James Hale has a story up on Poland and Carter. It seems that OU has not stopped recruiting Carter and he may be having second thoughts about his commitment to the Zags. Poland has already visited OU several times, so he may not take an official visit. Here's the story for those with premium access. James is doing a good job of keeping fans informed about OU recruits:

Thanks Ada. So it sounds like there is still a faint glimmer of hope with Carter and it doesn't sound like we are completely out of the running for Poland at all. Perhaps the sky isn't falling after all.

I wonder if the Zags convinced Carter that Capel was gone and Carter told Poland what he heard. Now that Capel is staying, they are probably having second thoughts.

***the previous statements are pure speculation with no insider knowledge.***

I think that's an accurate assessment, seniorsooner. Hopefully Carter will see the error in his decision and sign with OU. He would be the uncontested "man" at the point guard position next year.

I think that is a very good possibility, bok. I said several days ago that every school we're competing against for recruits will take advantage of our situation and feed these kids any line of bull they can come up with to turn them away. That's negative recruiting at its best, and the Sooners are vulnerable to it.

OU needs to get out there then and say that Capel is staying. It sounds like Capel knew nothing about the Tiny situation or he'd be gone. IF OU could convince Carter and/or Poland to wait and sign, thing would look A LOT better. The really good news is that we're hearing nothing about TJ and Cam wavering at all.

It's more about other coaches telling these guys OU is going on probation and there program is a mess.

Kinda what I'm thinking as well.

I am not saying it's not the case but how can a person (even a 19/20 y/o) be so naive to believe whatever people tell them and not wait for a little bit longer to find out the truth? How do the Zags' coaches know what's going down with OU situation?

Coaching is a fraternity. I ran into some staffers at Nebraska and Baylor at Wal-Mart, and told them I was an OU fan. They both laughed and alluded vaguely to some of the things that recently came out. The quote from the Nebraska assistant was "those guys have problems, and more on the way". I guarantee you coaches and recruits no more about the OU investigation than anyone in the media or who thinks they are connected to the program.

Some beach. I have to say it's somewhat ridiculous to lose a recruit to South freaking Florida.

He was good friends with Mike Neal so I was hoping that would help. I agree I don't like losing a recruit to USF either, probably had a hottie waiting for him in South Beach.

South Florida is actually in Tampa.
