Best player in college basketball.

Willed OSU to victory despite Ford being severely outcoached by Lon Kruger.

He is another Blake Griffin - a once in 10 years type of player.

He is a special player, no doubt. Makes it look so easy. Shot the jumper a little better than he normally does today, but he is silky smooth on the drives. Hope he leaves for the NBA.

He might be, but the constant flopping on both ends of the court just makes me ill.

NOT EVEN CLOSE TO GRIIFFIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Embarassing that you would even say that. Real good player but Not in the same universe!!!!

And, Smart is the biggest Flopper in the game right now

He's a good player. He's not anywhere close to being the best player in college basketball nor is he anywhere close to being as good as Blake.

Smart as a freshman is MUCH better than Blake as a freshman. I have no doubts about that.

Is Smart as good now as Blake was as a soph? Probably not, but that gap isn't very wide.

You are one spiteful envious old man. When you give the kid an ounce of credit immediately you go back to attacking him. Your rebuttal is poor in all of your responses regarding Smart.

I think he is the best. Everyone else would if he played for a basketball school that gets national recognition like North Carolina...

It'll all depend on if Smart has the work ethic that Griffin had. Two different positions but two players with ceilings that are enormous.

I'm not sold on the best player business -- he's only shooting 29% from downtown (41% from the floor) and 3+ turnovers per game to 4.5 assists.

His steals are impressive though, but I think there are better players. Most of them are juniors or seniors though.

Very good point. Blake from yr 1 to yr 2 was an enormous improvement. Heck, after his 1st few games many Sooner fans on this board were grumbling about his effort, lack of post game, defensive ability, etc.... How quickly we forget sometimes.

Smart is the goods, but how it translates to the NBA is still a mystery to me. I just don't se him being on the level with the NBA elite PG's with a shaky jumpshot. We shall see how much he improves.

He is a very good college player.

I'm thinking Tony Allen-level defender(maybe better) but with the ability to play point and score, not necessarily a sharp-shooter though.

NOT EVEN CLOSE TO GRIIFFIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Here you provided excellent evidence to counter-argue BT's topic

Embarassing that you would even say that. Real good player but Not in the same universe!!!! Here you attack BT and then give your "ounce of credit" to Smart

And, Smart is the biggest Flopper in the game right now Here you go back to attacking the kid

Now what did I say that was wrong in my original response?

If he defends like TA, he will be an important commodity for someone. I guess it will come down to his desire. Allen eats, sleeps, and dreams about defense....

I can think of another freshman in the same conference that is better than smart. Great player though, hope he's moving on.

I didn't get why he was so hyped last time around in the game in Norman and after that game it didn't change my opinion. But he's been on a tear since then and that also showed how good Buddy is.

I don't know that I agree with this. It is tough to compare them because they play different positions but Blake Griffin was awfully good his freshman season. Blake averaged 14.7 pts and 9.1 boards a game as a freshman. Smart is averaging 15.5 pts a game. I just don't see how you can say that is MUCH better.

Agreed. Blake also shot 57% from the field as a freshman (65% as a soph!).

He is not the best freshman in the big 12

He is legit and that's all that really matter... All the who is better than who business is subjective and biased.

As for where I hope he ends up in the draft, I would really like to see him end up in Orlando.. They have a big hole to fill at shooting guard and JJ Reddick is more suited to being a specialist off the bench. Smart is a much more capable all around player who does more to help a team win.
