Hats off to Marcis Smart

I'm just sick of hearing his name.

I must hear his name more than Lebron's.

marcus smart, marcus smart, smart, smart, smart

He's good, but he aint that good, yet.

Smart plays like one of those Mid-Major "Seniors" you see in the Sweet 16

McLemore will be a better pro than Smart

Smart is more talented than McLemore. It's really not even close. Smart creates for his teamates unlike McLemore. Plus Smart has his own coach going against him every game.

Smart probably will go in the top 3 of the NBA draft. Based on the team could even go #1.

NBADraft.net has McLemore and Smart both going in the top 3 in their "mock" draft. Both are very good players.

Really, one spot below KD. One spot above Russell Westbrook. The same spot as James Harden. I don't see a game anywhere near any of those guys.

Smart has had a much better Freshman year than Harden or Westbrook. He impacts the game in so many ways and his offense will continue to improve. Now whether he has the work ethic and coaching over the next few seasons will be the key. His flopping is weak though. But part of that is basketball IQ, he made Amath look stupid a few times just because he's such a smarter basketball player.

Where do you guys come up with things like this. Much better than Harden?

Harden as a Freshman:

PPG 17.8, RPG 5.3, SPG 2.1, APG 3.2, FG% 52.7, 3pt% 40.7% FT 75.4% TO 2.6

Smart as a Freshman is averaging 15 points, 5.8 boards, 5.8 assists per game.

That is not much better. In fact, I don't think it is better because Smart shoots .418 form the floor and .316 from 3.

The trouble with evaluating Smart is that so much of his value comes from things that aren't quantifiable, like his leadership and impact on his teammates.

I know that sounds dubious from the "outside", but having watched every one of his games, it's real. He also tends to have the knack to collect his stats at the right time.

Best player in college basketball.

Willed OSU to victory despite Ford being severely outcoached by Lon Kruger.

He is another Blake Griffin - a once in 10 years type of player.

Screw Smart.

In this years draft that is where he is projected. You might want to check it out before you run your Rocky High mouth.

You think Harden didn't do the exact same thing? I have not ever said a single bad word about Smart and only called out people that say things like he was MUCH better than Blake Griffin as a freshman and much better than James Harden as a freshman. Those are ridiculous statements in my opinion

Hmmm, did you see the play where Smart was guarding Grooms out front and , like he probably did in Highschool last year, he thought he had a steal and grabbed for air as Grooms went through his legs and drove for an uncontested layup while Smart and his jock were out front of the 3 line. Many more BAD plays he made in the game AND many really good plays as well. He may be a 3rd pick but that is all on "potential" - he may make it or may be a bust in the NBA - check back in 4 years. If he is 3rd that just means that the draft is not that good this year. In years past you had guys in the top 3 that were DOMINANT on the college level - Smart is NOT dominant although a very good player. That hurts the aggie's on this board and their feelings AND the OU fans who have a man crush on this dude, BUT IT IS THE TRUTH. Read the comments from the draft guys and they all don't know if Mclemore or Smart will make a great impact in the league - and these guys know a whole lot more than anyone on this board.

In 4 years we will know more.

BUT IT IS THE TRUTH

I think you meant thats your opinion. I think there are plenty who'd say he is dominant, lots talking head sure do.

Not here to argue one way or the other but last time I checked potential is very subjective. You can say its the truth but no one truly knows how good he'll be in the nba including yourself. He isn't explosive, not a great shooter (at this point), plays the point well but is more of a combo guard, and there are other things that people can point to as evidence he won't be good.

He isn't getting this attention for nothing though.

He is great. But the Flopping on 3 pointers has got to stop. I don't like it at all no matter who does it.
