So what does everybody think they will do? Pretty much three options:

1. Keep the Big 3, and tweak the bench.
2. Keep the Big 3, and add a guy like Carmelo.
3. Break up the Big 3.

Obviously the Big 3 and what THEY want plays a big role in this.

I really don't see Carmelo heading to the Heat. I think he is pretty much set on Chicago or Houston at this point. I could see James leaving the Heat though, and if he does, so might Bosh/Wade.

Should be an interesting next couple of weeks. Will Love be traded? And if so, to whom? Where will Carmelo end up? Will Houston make a large deal to get rid of Asik/Lin?

Asik would be great for the Heat. They would have a legit post defender and an elite rebounder.

I would go with option #1 if I were them. They know the formula works, can win championships, and get them to the Finals. They just need more defense, and working to get someone like Asik would be huge for them.

PG: Chalmers
SG: Wade
SF: Lebron
PF: Bosh
C: Asik

Look out.

Not sure they can afford Asik. There has been a lot of talk that he or Sanders (Mil) will end up in Boston, as they are said to be after a true center, and they have the money/cap room to get him.

Agree that Miami needs more defense, and/or better bench players to improve next year.

From what I hear, the Bulls are leading for Carmelo, but it may be dependent on if they trade for Love. I wonder if Lebron would consider the Knicks?

Does that mean Houston may lead for Carmelo if the Bulls can't trade for Love?

Not sure NY could put together a roster to attract Lebron. Doubt he'd leave Miami and the Big 3 for a rebuild, no matter how short it's expected to be.

The Bulls can't acquire Love and Carmelo. I think the first choice seems to be Love, but if not they will full court for Carmelo. But they may not be able to wait for Love. Can't be left without a chair. The Bulls are the best trade partner for Love if Flip wants players and picks. If he just wants picks, then Boston may be the trade partner.

I could also see them getting back into the Lebron sweepstakes, after failing the last time.

Edit: I guess I shouldn't say they "can't" acquire both Carmelo and Love, technically they do have the parts to make that happen, but it seems very unlikely, especially since Carmelo would have to take a massive pay cut in year 1 of contract.

I pity the fool who takes Melo. Guy is a clown... If you want to go .500 or less every year and watch Melo score 35 points on 32 shots every game, go for it.

In 3 years since the trade (as of February of this year) Denver went 137-83 and New York went 123-102, and that is without Denver having Danilo Gallinari for the entire season, and he is a fantastic player. Denver has also gone stretches without having Ty Lawson (who only played 62 games), Wilson Chandler (who only played 62 games), and Javale Mcgee who missed pretty much the entire 2013-2014 season.

Chicago should be going all in for Kevin Love and staying away from a clown like Carmelo.

Would the Heat trade Bosh for Asik? That's an interesting proposition.

As I've said on another thread if Lebron & Carmelo want to play with each other Cleveland is easily the best destination. Kyrie Irving, Lebron, Carmelo & Embiid would make a hell of a big 4 with years of staying power. Plus they have Dion Waiters, Triston Thompson, Anthony Bennett, Jarrett Jack & Tyler Zeller as role players. That's a championship roster ready to go and everybody gets paid.

Agreed.

Lebron opted out this morning, and there is already talk of him and Melo trying to land with the same team.

Probably one of the most interesting offseasons I can remember in recent history. Lebron and Melo are unrestricted FA's. Wade and Bosh might end up being. Love is being shopped aggressively. Boston and the Lakers looking to make big moves. Several teams with multiple draft picks.

Should be very interesting.

As a Thunder fan, I can't decide if I would like lebron in the western conference or not. I think it would benefit the thunder to see him during the regular season. But as the east has seen, it's tough to get to the finals with lebron in your conference.

Thunder better make some moves though and hope that it takes lebrons new team (or the heat with new parts) a year to gel

Yea it changes everything. Makes the Bulls less likely to land Carmelo.

Watch out for the Lakers in all of this

Wherever Lebron ends up he needs scoring help. It's the same thing with Kobe, Melo and Lebron, they have all been forced to carry too much of the scoring load and after a while it wears you out. We saw the same thing with KD and he's still a young pup.

I really don't see Houston in the mix. Dwight Howard is a goofy headcase who can't shoot free throws.

It's interesting that Riley made the comment last week about "having guts" and "not running out the first open door". Is Wade really going to opt out? He's not worth his salary. He's been to 5 finals, won 3 rings. His knees ache. His smart play is to bank the $42 million left on his contract and call it a great career. That's what his agent has to be telling him.

I think Lebron will re-structure and stay. The Heat have so much of a cake walk to the Finals, why go anywhere else.

Miami should have held Flash out of the first round. Had nothing left in the finals. He was having one of the best stretches of his career through the first 3 rounds.

LeBron isn't going to a team that needs a lot to rebuild. So it is most likely he'll stay in Miami. But other possibilities? Probably the Clippers or Bulls would be my top guesses. If he goes somewhere with Melo maybe he could basically start from scratch. Lakers would actually be a good choice because they basically have nobody back on their roster outside of Kobe. They could also sign Nick Young relatively cheap. But they also still have a roster to rebuild outside of that.

I do agree that he will most likely stay in Miami.

Agreed. I think he is just trying to force the the Heat to improve the roster and spend some money, but IF he doesn't like what they plan to do, he may very well leave.

Come on Lebron.... you know you want to be a Charlotte Bobcat, a Toronto Raptor, a New Orleans Pelican, a Denver Nugget, a Milwaukee Buck, or a member of the Orlando Magic.
