Those who haven't seen what some of us have seen can you help me feel better? Glad they pulled it out but it was more of the same. Too many defensive issues to post. Not gonna mention bench play because tonight's first half was an enigma. Where has the confident, complete team gone? Are we just not hungry?:OU-logo:

The second half was a disaster. We still won so that's good at least. We've had trouble playing at our best for a whole game lately. I just hope we do when it matters. On the other hand, we've been playing some really good teams lately that you just can't expect to blow out for 40 minutes straight. I just wish we responded a bit better when those teams start to turn it on.

Anyone that has played sports knows that sometimes you lose momentum and it's tough to get it back. Sometimes it just slips away. It's good that we fought to pull this out after falling behind.

They didn't give up ..... and that's a good thing. It kind of took the sting out of blowing the Texas game.

I think that is the least of the issues.

If anything

I would agree. You could see the stress and frustration on their faces. But, they righted the ship and won the game.

I'm one of those that thinks games like this aren't necessarily bad for them. They would have gained nothing, except perhaps overconfidence, if this game had gone like the one in Waco. Like Texas, Baylor threw the double team on Buddy late in the game. We handled it better this time.

While they didn't play as well in the second half as the first, they played better in the first half than they have in several games. We started out this season playing as well as we possibly could play. No teams maintain that level of play over an entire season. The first half was encouraging. One thing we know about these guys is that they will continue to work at it.

actually only about 4 min 30 sec were a "disaster" with 830 left we had an 18 point lead .. ie bayor outscored us by 3 points in the fist 1130ish of the second half ..

out scored us by 19 (19-2) the next 4 min

That stretch of 3-4 turnovers over about 5 straight possessions was embarrassing. Those weren't even good turnovers, just terrible.

It seems this team gets careless at times. I've never seen a team so good play so bad at times. It actually looks easy for other teams to take the ball away. lazy passes and lazy ball handling.

It was actually 5 consecutive possessions which led to turnovers.

What do you mean by "good turnovers"? Serious question.

The worst turnovers are those that result in easy fast-break layups for the opponent. OU had plenty of those during that bad stretch in the 2nd half.

A turnover that results in the other team taking the ball out-of-bounds at least allows you to set up your defense. It is not "good" but it is better than the above.

Good might not be the best term, but I can live with a strong drive to the hole that results in the defender making a good play and stripping the ball, or knocking it loose and out of bounds off our guy.

But turning it over at the top of the key by throwing a pass out of bounds, or off your teammates' chest right to the defender, or simply getting your pocket picked while not even really making a move to the hoop, those are really bad turnovers.

It was tough to watch, I know that much.

Reminded me a bit of that stretch last year where Cousins got his pocket picked 2-3 straight times down the court.

Reminded me of Cousins freshman year, when he lost confidence. This time it was several players. Cousins was on the bench

yep you can't have live ball to's those often lead to layups ..

The careless play at the end of the game was not the first time that has happened. Nor is it the first time we have slacked off on defense with the result that the offense begins to go off course. It's hard to regain rhythm once it's given up.

Live ball turnovers are 'bad' turnovers. Throwing it out of bounds, traveling, double dribble, etc. not quite as bad.

Hard for me to believe they are that far off from really playing well again. Really thought they would have it turned around by now. The 2nd half last night was a bit discouraging, especially the TOs. Lost the handle on that game in a much different and more disturbing fashion than in Austin. We must gain some momentum tout de suite...
