Hield and Hornbeak

Does anyone know how they shoot from 3 point range. I saw on the recruiting link that Hield shot .446 from 3 point range as a junior. That says to me he is a good shooter. OU really needs both of these guys to be abel to shoot the 3 next season.

Not sure what his shooting pct is, but I love Hornbeak's shooting form.

In his vids Hield was absolutely filling it up from 3-land. He has a somewhat unorthodox shooting form where he releases it somewhat lower than average but he was scorching some nets. He also showed the ability to get above the rim on several occasions, and he can handle with left and right. He also looks like he has packed on some mass. Not sure of his defensive prowess. Hornbeak looks more like a point and has great from and drained some 3s in his vids.

Again, hopefully they get used to the speed of the game quick enough because each of these guys brings much more skill than anyone we have right now in the backcourt. Im sure they will have to be taught to play hard on defense, but the way I look at it that is mostly want-to and if they have the athletic quicks they can be coached into good perimeter defenders. Really excited about them...

Hornbeak already plays hard on defense, has proven he is a team player and will do all the little things to help his teams win.

I wouldn't expect highlight videos to show a bunch of missed shots. To me what is more telling is shooting percentage and the ability to make big shots at key moments in a game. Any kid that starts on the perimeter in high school likely has made enough three point baskets to put together a couple of minutes of video.

I wouldn't worry too much about Heild and Hornbeak. They will probably both turn out to be better than anyone we have got. If they weren't, Kruger wouldn't have recruited them.

Any kid that starts on the perimeter in high school likely has made enough three point baskets to put together a couple of minutes of video.

Really. I don't see any vids of Blair or Grooms raining treys in abundance out there, at any level. I think these two new guys are pretty good from the outside, OK? Not sure why such the hand wringing over their HS numbers... :austin686_jpg_xs:

I know there's a level of excitement and expectations for these guys but sometimes I'm afraid we've got them as all conference already. I know they are talented and very good players but they haven't even stepped on a college court yet. Isn't it a little early to pencil them in as saviors and the best players on the team? not meaning to be Debbie Downer.

My biggest concern with Buddy is his low release, seems pretty insignificant right now because in high school it is easy to create space. As he makes the adjustment to collegiate ball, if that part of his shot is not refined, Buddy won't be shooting many toe-the-line three pointers...more along the line of one or two steps back, which drastically lowers percentages.

Perfect example is Willie Warren, his shot started low and needed more space to get it off. He constantly shot deeper threes than he would of liked due to his mechanics.

Willie is who I thought of when I saw Buddy's shot on video. Funny how they shoot 100% on highlight videos.

Hard to say on a few seconds of video, but he looks pretty athletic and talented to me. I have had someone who has seen him play a bunch tell me he is really good and a high flier. We'll see next year.

I watched Hornbeak's game that was televised a while back. I liked what I saw in that game. I hope Heild is as good as hornbeak. Hornbeak can shoot the 3 and looks good doing it. Although in that game, he didn't shoot much.

I don't disagree with you, but that doesn't mean they will be that good in season 1. Or even season 2. I hope they are, but that is the big question, how big will their adjustment period be?
