Hornbeak/Nikebasketball

It wasn't nonsense. I've spoke to several inside the program and it's true.

I'd heard about it midseason and asked Gary..

I hope he wants to start and tries to beat out one of the other guards.
That's what makes players better

Not an option. He isn't going to beat out Woodard, b/c Woodard is a true pg. And LK and staff aren't going to let him compete for minutes at sg, b/c we need a backup pg, and Hornbeak is the best option there. There is literally nothing Hornbeak can do to start at OU, short of becoming Hollis Price overnight.

I certainly don't want him to leave, but I'm sure he didn't come to OU to be the backup pg for 3 seasons. I wouldn't fault him for leaving. I'd understand that.

What if you looked at in terms of minutes played rather than starters and bench players. Hornbeak could increase his minutes played significantly by substituting at multiple positions.

I tend to agree but... I want him motivated totes and take someone's spot... Competion makes folks better!

In his season wrap-up interview someone posted, Coach Kruger said they'd spoken to all the players and no one had plans to transfer.

Of course, he'd likely say that even if a player were torn about whether to stay or go, I suppose.

I he stays through his junior year, I sure hope he doesn't leave for his senior season. OU has a chance to be really good in two years. If the big guys develop and two guards are scoring off the bench, OU will be very tough to beat in 2016.

There were games toward the end of the season that I thought Hornbeak outplayed Woodard. I don't think Woodard being the starter is a complete lock. Beak was injured for much of the year and if he can stay healthy and find his shooting stoke, I think we could see a battle for starting PG. Also, Beak is a better defender. Maybe compared to Woodard, he's not a 'true PG," but he looks very capable of doing an excellent job there.

Let's get the competition going.

I'm in.

He isn't the true point like Jordan but he was getting about equal minutes late in the year. He would have a chance to play at least 25 minutes a game.

It will be a lose if he isn't with the program in the future.

I agree, I also thought that Hornbeak pushed the pace a lot more compared to Woodard which was better for our offense.

Yeppers. I think he outplayed JW the last 6-8 games of the year. If his jumper starts falling again look out

That was only after Woodard hit the freshman wall. I fully expect Woodard to clearly be the best option at pg next season.

different talent sunshine

Not only that, but those UK freshman didn't exactly play up to talent all season either. So they got hot late. Or figured it out late. Or hit their wall earlier. However you want to say it. It was pretty clear when Woodard hit his. But Woodard out played at least one of the Harrisons the first half of the season.

But after the freshman wall couldn't he hit the sophomore slump?

Most coaches will say the biggest jump in improvement comes between the end of their freshman season and about mid-way through the sophomore campaign.

Look at Cousins.
