Winner stays at 10th place, loser gets sole possession of 11th place.

Pat Knight and Jeff Capel are really the only two coaches in the league that are in trouble, and both have had horrendous seasons. At 12-17, I just dont know how you can justify keeping Pat Knight with all those seniors. He said it himself before the season, if he doesnt win this year he is in trouble.

But in the grand scheme of things, is this an important game? If OU loses another by double digits to a team like Tech, does it matter? Does it have any influence on who will be the coach next season?

A loss here also pushes the losing streak to 8 games.. the second longest losing streak in the conference would be Texas at 2.

I'd say the next 3 are mighty important for Jeff to keep his job. That's just wishful thinking though. I don't see how you could keep a coach that is wrapping the season up with an 8-10 game losing streak.

i think its very important. We win tonight and have confidence going into senior night bedlam. 6-10 is a lot better than 4-12

Singletary is going to have 30-35 points tonight. Who wants to take that bet? Winner gets a free pound of air.

Singletary - 16 points, 8 rebounds
Roberson - 22 points, 4 assists
Reese - 17 points, 8 rebounds
Tairu - 10 points
Roberts - 9 points, 5 rebounds

I voted c -- when battling between 10th and 11th place it's not important.

I don't think any chance exists that Capel is fired after the completion of this year, so losing the next 2-3 games will have zero effect on him.

It could effect recruiting, and it could effect next year but I don't think it will.

The damage is already done and I hate to say it but not much difference between 6-10 and 4-12.

I voted for B because I truly believe OU should not lose 8 games in a row or finish 11th but in the grand scheme of things I think it really doesn't matter. Capel should not keep or lose his job over this game (although a win would certainly help with keeping his job). The season sucks regardless of whether OU finishes 10th or 11th.

Even though I am not of the same train of thought I believe that unless something drastic happens off the court I don't see Capel being fired this year even if OU loses the next three.
I don't know why I just get the feeling that he is getting another year unless major NCAA allegations happen, he gets a DUI or some other arrest, he drops a bunch of curse words in a press conference, etc. I think something extreme is going to be needed for him to be given the axe.

Unless something completely ridiculous happens tonight no one will remember much about this game a year from now.

It's important now, but in the grand scheme of things, it's almost irrelevant.

I voted B.

If Knight Jr. loses this one, and then his job, I wonder if that severs the tie between that family and Tech once and for all. That also includes the possibility that Tech might go after Steve Alford at UNM. But I also think Alford likes the Pit and hates the idea of playing in front of small crowds.

3 more losses just shovels the dirt over the grave.

:ez-roll: There aren't five people on this board that thought we could win six Big 12 games. If we get to six, your boy Jeff should be commended.

No chance Alford takes that job.

I voted for the first option. I'd add that not many people penciled us in for a win on the road in Lubbock at the beginning of the season.

Just because nobody thought we would get to 6 conference wins doesn't make it some big milestone. It's still under .500 and not worthy of postseason play.

Both (4 or 6 conf wins out of 16) signal a craptacular season.

This is why I say it's not a big difference in the 2 records.

The ties between the Knight family and Tech were thru the recently resigned AD, Gerald Myers. Surely you don't think it's a coincidence that Myers resigned before he had to fire Pat Knight?

With Myers retirement before he fired Knight, he basically thumbed his nose at Tech and said his relationship with Bobby Knight was more important than his relationship with Tech. I would bet Hocutt (new AD) is considering keeping Knight for one more year until he can assess the situation.

Personally, I'm glad Myers is gone because he has been a thorn in OU's side from day 1.
