how many of you people are daft?

Well, I think most were willing to ignore his gross misspell of the womens head basketball coach but when he starts calling others "daft" then he opens himself up to criticism.

It's not hard to treat people with decency and I try to do that but if someone wants to ask "are you daft", then that someone deserves whatever reply they get. You may not feel that way and that's fine, but don't criticize me for feeling that way, ok?

They may deserve whatever they get. But, that doesn't change the fact that treating new posters with decency is still an option.

You are right, and it also doesn't change the fact new posters can treat others with respect too. It's a 2 way street.

Tickets are free? I see people buying them at the window at every game. I know cause I stand outside and wait for someone to come up to the window so I can give them my extras. Wish I had known they were free cause I probably could have got quite a few people to come. Also I want free tickets. I've been paying for mine for 20+ years. How do I get free tickets?

I don't know what to tell you. My friend got hers for free. I hear of a lot of people who get them for free. What do you pay per ticket? If you are paying more than $5 you are paying way more than most. Unless they charge more for the padded seats, which may be true.

Come on, Booger. No need to get your feelings hurt. By the way, I have no idea who the poster was referring to.

My feelings aren't hurt, just trying to figure out whose reply was longer than he wanted to read. That is all. ;)

heh heh heh heh i love your post so much i'm gonna make sure another board sees it. i am that daft

I don't remember "nobody wanting the job" when Burl Plunkett resigned. After all, we just had a WNIT championship team exactly 1 year before he resigned. That team had Etta Maytubby and some other good Oklahoma talent (Sheri Black, Sharee Mitchum, et. al.,). More than anything, Marita Hynes contacted Auriemma and he recommended Sherri since she was (a) in town and (b) highly successful as a HS coach

Marita loves telling stories about the program and Sherri, so if you ever see her at a game, you can probably get her talking about either if you ask :)

Sherri apparently was incredibly organized during her interview with a clear plan forward with the program. Hate Geno or not, he had just been in Norman recently for a recruit, so it makes sense that he would recommend her. Sherri also apparently was pregnant at the time, and the only shirt that fit for the interview was a red one. Bonus points?

The one thing that has helped Sherri get past the rough or down years is the next best recruit. For the late 90s, it was Stacey Dales. In the mid aughts, it was CP3. Most recently, D-Rob and Whitney Hand.

Man, can you imagine all four of those playing on the same team? Bye bye UConn no titles for you :D

I think you have it all wrong about the Paris girls, OU was not recruiting them, they ask to come and visit after a team mate from their AAU days who OU did recruit and then she committed to Texas told them they might like it at OU.

Maybe I should have said "next best player" instead of "recruit," because that's what I was getting at.

Our rough patches always seem to be followed by a a stellar Sooner career. After Sherri's initial losing seasons, she gets Stacey Dales. Post-title game loss, there was another downturn (early NCAA exits), then we bring in the Paris twins. After the Paris twins leave, we get another Final Four because... yup, we have a few more stellar Sooners in D-Rob and Whitney.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make? Can you explain further? CP (and Ashley) was/were given a scholarship, she did not walk-on.

I maintain that if the 02 team had been 3-4 years later, they would have won the NC. For instance, the year Baylor won their first with the girl from the Bahamas (Sonya?) the 02 team would have won it that year. Mulkey got very lucky that year that UConn didn't have Taurasi.

In 02, we played one of, if not the best, UConn team of all time. It was loaded with stars: Taurasi, Bird, etc. Just bad timing for us and Mulkey had good timing.
