The problem is that both Lucas and Graham had D-1 experience coming in AND were playing with Tony Allen and Ivan McFarland (whom I thought was a tough player for the bad guys). Who were the other players on that team? I can't believe I've already forgotten. Stevie Graham I remember, Joe Atkins?

Joe Atkins wasn't on that team. They had Bobik as the other starter. With Janavor Weatherspoon, Jason Miller and Terrence Crawford coming off the bench. I brought this team up because Lucas, both Grahams and Bobik were all new players. This team only went about 7 or 8 deep. Stevie really didn't play a lot because Tony Allen rarely sat.

I'm not saying OU will make the Final Four and Win the league, but with new players sometimes suprise people good and bad.

I believe they can shoot for top half in the Big-12. To me that is a viable goal, might yield an NIT bid, and would show progress.

My point is that it's ridiculous to look at the schedule and say, "Well Texas, that's two losses, OSU, that's two losses, Tech, that's two losses..." when most everybody agrees the team will be better this year and we beat a few tournament teams at home last season... We will win some games that will surprise some people is all I'm saying.

You are prob right, its frustrating how my expectations have changed so much.

I agree you can't have a bunch of years like last year and expect to be around for that long.

well the hard part to take is that he had plenty of talent last year to atleast finish middle of the pack in the big 12...i know we didnt mesh well but isnt that what a coach is for, to help guys mesh and teach them the game?

Plenty of talent? Offensively, yes, we had some pretty good, young scorers. With another season I believe the freshmen could have developed into one of the best offenses in the Big12 this season.

Defensively, not even close. We had no inside presence whatsoever. That is so important, just look what Udoh did for Baylor.

Our guards were atrocious @ defense, as well. It was never WW's strength, obviously, and any D1 point guard can get their shot off against a 5-8 guy.

It seems like we land a few McD's AAs and people all of a sudden think we are Kentucky or UNC...The difference is @ OU the AAs are the minority, and @ UK or UNC they are the majority.

I agree with most all of this. Never said to give Capel a pass. Of course it is his fault.

If the team does not want to play hard on defense, then it really doesn't matter if you run a 2-3 zone or man-to-man or whatever.

This team will win more games just by playing consistently tough defense, imo.

I am starting to agree with Nick in thinking we could be better off without TMG. I would have loved to see Tiny and Willie back, however..
