I know Denver had a good year, but the Golden State turnaround was much bigger IMO.

I think Golden State has a good coaching staff, but the team's "improvement" is artificially inflated by factors beyond coaching.

The Warriors improved so much for three reasons: 1) Steph Curry was injured for the vast majority of last season; 2) they blatantly tanked the last 40% of the season just to keep their Top-7 protected draft pick; 3) they added better role players.

Aside from whoever is responsible for keeping Curry's ankle intact for most of the season, Bob Myers deserves more credit than anyone else. Barnes was a solid pick, plus Myers drafted two other rotation players in the 30s in Ezeli and Green. He signed Landry and Jack to modest short-term deals. That's five new rotation players added in one summer.

And it's a regular season award. No one had a problem with Karl winning it until the playoffs happened. You seemed to be on board with Karl as COY in mid-March when Boca suggested it, and the Nuggets finished 12-3 after that point in the season.

you make good points. I still think Karl did a very good job - the Nuggets first half schedule was nothing short of brutal. My perception is very jaded based on the playoffs I am sure.

That said - I guess it's my fault for not realizing how good GS really was.

Karl did a great job. He's an awesome regular season coach. He's just terrible at making adjustments in the playoffs.

No one realized how good Golden State could be going into the playoffs. First off, they weren't even this good going into the Denver series. They're not playing like a 47-win team. That Lee injury was a blessing in disguise.

With all of that said, Jackson is a good coach and/or his staff is really good, which I didn't expect based on Mark's broadcasting career. They've really impressed me.

I was looking for a "like" button for this post. dead on.

I had watched Golden State play a few times this season and they weren't this good. Then when Lee was injured I figured their games were numbered. Suddenly, they looked so much better. amazing. Curry is a darn rock star.
