Anybody watch that 30 for 30 last night?

I'm only about half way through it, but I thought it was really good. Similar to the one they did on the Fab Five. That was a really fun era of basketball when Duke took off, UK was good with Pitino, UNLV was still good for awhile. KU and UNC were both pretty good. Georgetown. Less parity, but better teams at the top.

I watched it and really liked it. I remember thinking that Duke and Laettner in particular, were really fun to watch in the early 90s. Watching the special made me wonder if Coach K would be the icon that he is today without Laettner.

I watched it. Very entertaining. Also very informative. I didnt know he took that much flack over rumors he was gay. I heard a little bit of that, but not to that extent.

I watched it and I was really surprised that even his own teammates disliked Laettner. Especially Hurley. I had no idea that Laettner used to get after Bobby Hurley.

Countless rumors about him and Thomas Hill.

Didn't they walk across campus holding hands to add fuel to the rumors? That is what I recall.

I thought it was great! It was Davis. Best part Hurley got him back and took off running out of the gym!
Well done!

first of all another great 30 for 30 episode. Second, it is funny how he did not get tossed out of that Kentucky game for the foot stomping of the Kentucky player, it was kinda sad that the pro Duke side still thinks it was not intentional...:facepalm

Curious....did they show him stomping on Iowa's Chris Street's head? Les famous, but Street died in a car accident two weeks later.

Yup Brian Davis - always get confused with the crying guy.

College bball was a different animal back then, larger then life.

Yep. I miss that a little bit about the game. The game and the world are a bit too PC for my taste. How many fights/brawls did they show in this episode? At least a couple. Not that I want to see guys fighting, necessarily, but I miss that intensity. I miss them letting games get a little out of control. I miss the personalities.

Until a few months back I didn't realize how poor he grew up.'

I thought it was one of the better ones they've done. I know everyone eanted to hate him but I'd have killed to have a player like that. He was the best player on the best team. Even to this day you can just feel the contempt and jealousy from the Fab Five guys. That alone makes it worth it. I also didn't know about his background. Any of them for that matter. Apparently Hill was the only one from money.

I remember hating him back in the day and thought he was a total douche bag, especially when they visited Norman in December of 1990, however I always thought he was a great basketball player. I lived in Minnesota at the time the Timberwolves drafted him and I was really surprised that his game did not translate to the pros. Many thought he was the second coming of Larry Bird.

Seeing him interact with his kids and the kids at his basketball academy really changed my outlook of him. He came across very well. It was well done...as they always are.

I met him several years ago, at a Duke NCAA tournament game in 2010 (the year they won the national title).

It was at a banquet that night following the game, in the convention center by the arena. Everyone was talking to everyone, so I figured I'd go up and try to chat with him.

He was incredibly rude to me, declined to take a picture with my little cousin (who was only 9), and simply walked away in the middle of the conversation.

Hated him ever since, everything that I had heard about him was confirmed that night.

Thought it was a great one. My favorite ones are when they show behind the scene things. A lot of things I never heard of or thought differently than what happened.

yeah, great player but you could tell he was still kind of a dweeb.

That said - maybe he's like that after the way he was treated by opposing fans and some media people. I don't know. He has a nice family life from the looks of it and a successful basketball camp. He MUST have some positive qualities. As all things in life it's probably a little of both and maybe he's just very hard to get to know = he acts aloof and like a jerk at times.

At a minimum he implicitly admitted it was intentional when he apologized.
