I am so excited about this team and its future. This is a really good season but next year might be even better. Buddy returns and OU replaces Thomas with four guys and Bennett with McNeace. Surely four guys can manage to averaged better than 11 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

We are back! And it feels good. Just need to start peaking now and carry it into tournament play. And agree that the future looks bright!

Similar to Mayor Giuliano, I know this is a horrible thing to say but I like OU basketball more than football.

Team is good this year but I guess I just don't see how we'd be better next year?

It's not impossible, but I don't know that it's likely. Thomas, as "okay" as he's been, is still an experienced player. Not sure Buddy/Cousins can play much better next year. We'll be breaking in Buford, McNeace, and the freshman guards. We've also been pretty lucky in terms of injuries this year, or lack thereof.

We should be deeper, especially if nobody redshirts. Just have to see how it plays out. And see how good Manyang is going to be. I think he'll be okay, but not the star/difference maker a lot seem to think.

Let me add this, I definitely don't think we'll be better if Buddy leaves. 50/50 if he stays. Probably a better record next year if Buddy stays, and I say that not having seen the OOC schedule.

Adding 3 players that play right away IMO. Losing Buddy and Bennett. Gain Buford and Jamuni (limited action)

Cousins, Jordan, and Spangler all add to their games...

Why does everyone assume we are losing Buddy? He'd be crazy to come out at this point, in my opinion.

The 3 players might play right away but they wont be near the players that Hield and Thomas are.

DJ is better than Jamuni is.

Buford will be alright but he won't replace Hield.

I don't see Woodard improving his offense a ton. Cousins could definitely increase his scoring. Spangler is pretty close to his max offensively.

We will be missing a true post presence next year that you can trust and a go to scorer who can hit 3's consistently.

We got somewhat lucky that Cousins and Hield turned out the way they did. Odomes, James are nice prospects but you never know with guards how well they will adjust.

I can see us being around 5th/6th next year in conference and making the tourny. this year is it though, this is what Kruger has been building toward the past 2 years.

The team has been better every year since Kruger arrived. Every year it has been the same from a few. The players we have and or losing are better than the players coming in. That is yet to be the case.

Next years team will be even more athletic, deeper, and much bigger. They will be a good blend of season and new. They will be better. And then better again the next year.

Our depth will be fantastic next year whether buddy returns or not. Because of that quality depth, we should be able to sustain effort more consistently throughout the year. Don't know that we'll be better, but maybe more consistent.

Recent history and Kruger's recruiting trends prove this to be the logical assumption. Anything less is plain ignorance or pessimism.

Depending on what KU brings back, I believe we will challenge them for the conference title not be 5th or 6th in the league. That's silly.

If Buddy Hield leaves it changes everything but I am assuming he stays until I hear him say otherwise.

I disagree that Woodard cannot improve his game. There is a lot of room for improvement for Jordan Woodard.

I also disagree that Spangler cannot improve. He is one of the best forwards in the conference. His outside shot will be better and when he is asked to be more offensively minded, I think he will do it.

OU loses a very good Thomas and a role player in Bennett. I am confident that McNeace can replace Bennett's production. That means OU needs 11 points and 6.1 rebounds from Manyang, Buford, Odomes and James. Needing that much from those four guys assumes no improvement from anyone else. OU will be a lot better than 5th or 6th in the conference next year. Everyone else loses players too.

Next year's team will be better if Buddy stays. If he leaves, you are going to need someone like Booker or Walker to dramatically improve their game. We won't have anyone in the low post to replace Thomas's offensive production, although Buford can hopefully make up for that scoring in different ways.

Awesome. So Kruger found a magic formula to never have a dropoff.

How many years until we start going undefeated every season, and winning the Championship easily?

It's easy to improve a team every year from where LK took over OU. At some point, either next year or the year after (depending on Buddy, probably), this team is going to regress, even if just a bit. I'd bet on it.

I made no predictions past the next two season's. Nor did I predict undefeated seasons and national championships. And there has been nothing easy about what Kruger has accomplished here.

They will either be better or much better depending on whether Buddy stays or goes. You have been predicting a regression every year since Pledger left. Eventually, you will be right. But, don't bet more than you can afford to lose for the next couple of years.

This team would have been worse than last year's without Thomas on the roster. I think just about everyone believed the team would be better than last once he was cleared.

lol

Pledger has been gone two seasons now. I can't remember exactly what I predicted last year, but I certainly predicted us to be better this year. Better than we've been. Better than we were last year. And certainly better than we were Pledger's senior year.

I have a difficult time believing we'll be better both next year and the year after, than we were this year. Heck, some of you guys are talking 3 seed, with an outside shot at a two seed if things go really well. No way we will be a 3 seed or better both of the next two years. Both OU and Kruger's history should tell us that.

I've said there is an outside shot we could be better next year IF Buddy stays. If not, I don't see it. But the year after that? No way that team will be a 3 seed. That team will just have lost Buddy (if not the year before), Spangler, Cousins, and Walker. Even if the guys we are bringing in our better, they won't have much experience at all with our depth next year.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I'd bet you any amount of money OU doesn't get an equal or higher seed each of the next two seasons, as they have this season.

Dj is better than Jamuni... But he isnt better than Manyang, Lattin, Buford who will be taking those minutes.

Buford will replace buddy, not his 20ppg. That will be taken up collectively.

Woodard will only get better. Bank on it. Cousins will improve and lead us in scoring.

Post scoring will be about the same. I only see Lattin and Manyang improving all year.

Lucky with Buddy and Cousins is just not dumb luck. Kruger knows what he wants and gets it. stars dont matter to him!

5-6th in conf is laughable. Id wager money on that... Without buddy going or not...
