I have changed my mind. It is a fantastic deal for Oklahoma.

OU is an Iconic Brand. We make our own decisions. Lol We need to send Joe down to Louisiana to kick some arse. I hate to tell you this Joe but OU’s Iconic Brand has a big fat ORANGE stain on it. Thanks to you, the Oklahoma brand has been damaged.

There are projections, solid projections. There were intriguing opportunities available to them but he did not want to get into the details. He thinks the 10-team model will work but they have not drill down into the specifics of it. When asked about the tv contract he babbled something about a consultant the conference retained plus verbal info from networks.

It is no wonder he has trouble running a clean basketball program. What a total embarrassment. I felt like I was listening to my stockbroker. If things do not work out for Joe in sports administration, he can always go to work for Goldman Sachs.

I kind of agree, sadly. He must assume all fans are rubes and buy this crap. OU, the rest of the Big XII (10, whatever), the Pac 10 and the SEC got played by UT and this will do nothing but hurt OU long term.

The BS (and I don't mean Bob Stoops) is nearly as deep in here as it is on the OUI boards and that's not a good thing.

I'm actually warming up to the new conference, slowly.

There are just a few things that trouble me long term...the expansion as proposed by the Pac-10 seemed to solve quite a few problems, but no doubt would have created a few.

Basically, I'm putting trust that aggressive non-conference scheduling in football coupled with what is a better basketball conference will make life in this new conference O.K.

Used to be I came to this board to escape the nuthouse of OUI, recently it seems to be more of a mirrorball of OUI.

tis no bueno.

I trust Joe C and prez Boren to make the right decisions for OU. I'm glad none of us are in their positions.

I like the new setup. A full round robin in basketball and football.

The money won't be quite what a Pac 16 would have been, but there would also have been more expenses for the athletic department with the larger conference.

I think in about 3 or 4 years we will be in the same spot and the rest of the conference will be screwed.

Well, this is a message board so the main goal is to spew an opinion without knowing all the facts.

That's what makes the internet so great.

Sid sounds like it's time for you to find a new team.

What will the schedule of conference be? 2 times against some and 1 against others? 2 times a piece would be 18 games. That is too many huh? I guess you could cut your OOC games down.

That's only 2 more conference games. Well worth it, in my opinion, to get a home and home with every other conference team.

The Pac10 has been doing the 18 game conference season for years. I think that's a good route.

Get ready for another wonderful day of two guys making tons of posts about how everyone in a position to make decisions for OU is an idiot, and that their extensive knowledge of sports via the Internet and Sports Animal means they know what's best. Then you'll get another guy backing up each post with comments about how it'll never last and that Capel better do better in "recruiting" if we're gonna beat anyone in this conference. Of course, all this is just my opinion, which is why we're posting here.

Some of these idiots would run over a road crew because they wear burnt orange vests, but have their nose shoved up the backside of the PAC-10 and are telling us it smells like money and the ocean. Like USC is gonna shelter us under their loving, protective wing. Penalties or not, they'll soon be the top dog of that conference once Lane is free to cheat again, and probably will continue to be one of the major shot callers, because they're huge and bring in a lot of money and viewers (like Texas).

If we're here again in 5 years, so what? That's five years of having as much money as any other major conference team and getting an opportunity to develop a sports network. I'd like to see a channel of OU, OSU, TU and Thunder programming. Not that I'd watch the pokes, but hey, we could run their stuff from midnight to 6 am.

Glad we can all get our opinions out there, since they're all of equal worth.

As a few familiar coaches say at least once a day ...

"It is what it is."

Hey guys, so if we only have 10 teams and we play almost all the teams twice, does that mean there will be no championship game? If there is still a championship game then it will truly be the two best teams in the championship game since you play almost everyone twice? so texas vs. OU could possibly be played three times a year??

Sorry for footballl I meant everyone once...

Nine conference game round-robin schedule with no championship in football. Eighteen game round robin (home and away) schedule in basketball. No more unbalanced schedules in either sport.

The conference doesn't have 12 teams any more so we can't have a conference championship game. I am assuming out conference schedule will be modeled after the Pac-10; 18 conference BBall Games, 9 conference Football games. Still have a Conference Basketball tourney.

Would that not hurt us not having a championship game?? I remember plenty of people dogging the conferences that didnt play in a championship game...I dont like this idea
