then it doesnt say much for the state of basketball. Lawson is impressive, but that's about it.

Lol seems like we hear this every season. KU hasn't played close to their best yet, but already has beaten a couple top ten teams on neutral floors. There are a handful of very good teams, if you haven't watched Duke, Gonzaga, Virginia, Tennessee, etc, I'd recommend doing so.

I have watched all of those. Duke and the zags are both better than KU.

On a neutral court.....Duke, Gonzaga, Michigan, and Virginia would likely beat them right now. They are missing Azibuke, but when I see them play (even with Azibuke), I'm certainly not overwhelmed. Nova is a little down this year and they are giving KU everything they want today.

Having said that, Self's track record speaks for itself.....he will work with what he has and his team will incrementally improve as the season goes on. As someone mentioned above, we've seen this before. KU usually looks vulnerable about a 1/3 of the way through the season.....and then they turn it on and win virtually every road game in the conference. And that's why the win the damn conference every year....ugh.

KU is missing a dynamic playmaker at the point like Frank Mason or DeVonte Graham. That may not be the case later in the season, but it’s a fact that should be painfully obvious to Jayhawks fans right now.

For the record, nothing I would like better than to watch KU fall on their “rock chalk” collective faces this season! I don’t want to see them lose to Villanova. But it would do my heart good if they lose every Big 12 game on their schedule!

Good point above. The other thing I've noticed today and in a couple of their other games is that their perimeter guys often get beat off the dribble. Calixte, Miles, and CJ should be able to get to the basket against them. The little white kid from Nova has been wearing them out today.

I agree, which is why it clearly isn't a down year for college basketball. Just because KU is ranked number one this week doesn't mean any experts consider them the favorite to win it all as of now. Once they lose a game, they will drop from the top spot just like Duke and Gonzaga did. Self is the first to admit that they are fortunate to be undefeated.

And don't sleep on Dotson and Grimes. They obviously lack the experience of Mason and Graham but are only going to get better as the season progresses. Before the season, Self called Grimes the most complete guard he has had at KU, and he isn't the type of coach to say something like that if he doesn't mean it. Too bad no one has beaten them while they are still not firing on all cylinders.

Best team in Big 12 right now most likely, that is all.

We will get a shot at them soon enough!
