If Lon left....

If Lon left Joe should pursue a seasoned but somewhat youthful mid major coach. Jeff Capel NOT, no whiz kid, one more good season and we would not have been able to keep him.

Where would he have gone?

I get that OU isn't the best bball job in the country, but there are still only a few (5-10 maybe) clearly better jobs in the country. KU in the Big 12. Duke, NC, and UK. Indiana, though I feel like that job is losing appeal. Then a few others that are comparable. Zona, UCLA, Florida, maybe Michigan.

The dude was nearly single-handedly responsible for the loss the other night. He made some really poor decisions down the stretch, and I thought their offense was brutal. If the good twin didn't bail them out by hitting tough shots, they'd have been even worse.

I have no idea what they were trying to run on offense (meaning nothing) and he refused to mix it up on defense while Loyola drove and back doored them to death. We need a coach that'll coach up our guys into a set system.

Capel turned down the zona job to stay at ou. He wanted to stay at ou until duke came calling.

One thing to note about NCAA coaches: Every coach can have a flash in the pan type year. Nobody should ever make a rash decision about how good a coach is based on 1 year. If you do that, you are in for a world of hurt.

Agreed. Didn’t think I would need to add that any coach we hire will need to be checked out thoroughly, something Joe C will almost certainly do.

Their job securities are on exact opposite ends of the spectrum.

Not really. Bulls fans are really happy with Fred this year. His young talent showed a lot of flashes, and then they went tank mode. If this was posted last year, sure, but this year, they actually love him.

Sure, he got some sympathy this year for the rebuild, but another year or two of .500 play, and he'll be back in college.

Stevens could go 0-82 next year, and still wouldn't be close to the hot seat.

Heh...
