If there were a "Sooner Hoops Magic" DVD made....

Pretty sure it was a CBS-arranged game. OU didn't go to Atlanta for a return game.

It might have been the last home game, and it was on a Sunday afternoon. The place was just roasting, but it was all worth it in the end.

Quite a game. I'd have it really high on this list.

I'm not much more than a "drive-by clown" these days, but I'll try to give a little input here. I don't go as far back or as detailed as NMSooner'80, but I've got a decent memory.

Here goes (years are season in which they occur):

1947: Ken Pryor hits a late shot to beat Texas 55-54 and secure our first title game appearance.

1979: Pick one from the Big 8 champs. The win over K-State in Norman to sew it up?

1982: The Irvine game.

1983: David Little beats O-State at the buzzer in Stillwater.

1984: Wayman and Company win at the Carrier Dome.

1984: Billy cuts down the nets in Lawrence.

1985: OU defeats GTech ONE DAY after defeating Nebraska in Lincoln. Anthony BOOOWIE!

1985: Wayman over the Mailman. Bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, swish!

1987: UNLV in Norman in the ice.

1987: Beat Pittsburgh in Tucson when the McHale Center wasn't always certain Sooner death.

1988: Beat Midnight Loot in Kansas City.

1989: Beat Midnight Loot in Norman.

1989: Tyrone Jones at the buzzer to beat the Cyclones at Kemper.

1989: The takedown of Mister Jennings and ETSU. We needed LOTS of magic at the end.

1990: Beat Mizzou....48 hours later....

1990: Beat Kansas

1990: Skeeter Henry and his six-shooters with the monster dunk over Kansas. We're #1!

1991: NIT thriller over Nick the Quick and a soon-to-be good Cincinnati team.

1992: Brent Price and the boys steal one from top-ten O-State in Stillwater.

1993: Hello, Ryan Minor against Michigan State.

1995: The holy triumvirate at Lloyd Noble, February 18, down goes top-ten Mizzou. 48 hours later.....

1995: Down goes #1 Kansas. Abercrombie.........

1995: February 25, down goes Jethro (height, 6-12).

1996: 117-100 over Nebraska in Norman in TRIPLE OT.

1998: Corey Brewer and Robert Allison steal one from Iowa State in Norman. 7-0 run to close it out.

1999: Humphrey with the tip, we get Midnight Loot again.

2000: Eduardo and Avila over Fizer and Tinsley (the best Iowa State team there's ever been) in TRIPLE OT.

2000: Hollis Price introduces himself at Kemper against Mizzou.

2001: Jameel Heywood says hello at Hearnes. Lost my mind running through the BUD after the putback.

2002: Ebi with the turnaround J to beat UConn in Hartford.

2003: Hollis goes coast-to-coast against the General.

2003: Quannas from DEEP to seal the win in Lubbock.

2003: Better make it three, bartender, against the Sand Aggies in Dallas.

2005: Drew Lavender's midnight ride in Manhattan with the high kiss off the glass.

2006: Michael Neal goes ape against Iowa State in Norman.

2006: Byron Eaton bails out Everett and Sean goes floppy on the sidelines of Lloyd Noble.

2008: David GOOOOOODBOLD from downtown Muleshoe to stun the Sand Aggies in Lubbock.

2008: Crocker.....and the FOUL against Baylor in Norman. 6500 people were never so loud.

2009: Curry and Griffin give the world a sneak peak in Norman.

2014: Seton Hall STILL doesn't know what happened.

And, I'm spent. But, then again, I'm a "drive-by clown".

I'd buy your DVD of those games, anytime!

Bonus points for knowing that Muleshoe is about as far from Lubbock (up U.S. 84) as Godbold was from the rim....

I remember reading about the Ken Pryor shot to beat the Horns in '47. But I sure didn't see it. It was 10 1/2 years before I was born.

The '79 team didn't have too many nail-biters. But that was a good call on the KSU game. It was a fairly dominant showing, and the student body did probably its first court-rush. The historic significance of that title was huge, too. It was also fun with OU pummeled the Beakers in KC to win the Big 8 tourney, also. My classmate at the time, Al Beal, was incredible in that game.

Good list there. Not sure if film exists for the 47 game, but I've read about it before.

Another one was against Texas in 1999 or so. We were struggling most of the game but found a way to come back and win.

Just remembered one that is very dear to my heart, at least.

December 8, 1988, Albuquerque's "Pit." OU beat UNM, 100-96. That was 10 months after OU's Final Four team destroyed the Lobos in Norman.

The key shot was a three from the deep corner, northeast end of the Pit, right in front of the OU bench, by Tyrone Jones. That made the score 97-96, with about a minute to play. OU got a stop and made two free throws to make it 99-96, then Mookie Blaylock got an amazing steal with five seconds left, picking the pocket of Lobo seven-footer Rob Loeffel on the in-bounds play. Blaylock made one of two from the line to seal the deal.

OU actually got up by 15 in the first half, but got sloppy and let the Lobos get back in it fairly quickly. Stacey King had an excellent second half to keep the home team from getting too much momentum. Ironically, King had been heavily recruited by previous UNM coach Gary Colson back in '85. Colson got forced out in April of '88 and was replaced by former OU coach Dave Bliss. Whatever happened in Waco, 15 or so years later, doesn't erase the fact that Bliss could outcoach Colson in his sleep, but I digress.

One thing that was cool, from the "local" standpoint was that UNM students camped out for tickets for several days. I was also sort of a celebrity with some of them, because I could honestly say that I'd actually met the famous Taylor Tubbs.

A couple of bad oversights on my part. I'll rectify that right now.

1989: Fantastic win at the Thomas & Mack Center over UNLV. Heavyweight champ, Mike Tyson, visits the victorious locker room.

2000: The Nolan Johnson show closes out the old GIA.

2001: A Hog roster featuring Joe Johnson and Jannero Pargo implodes late and we steal one in OT in Norman.

Stacey King had 48 in that win in Vegas. Blaylock also sealed that deal with a steal, but this one came with about a second to play when the Rebels were trying to get the final shot.

The one at Upper-GI was so much fun because it was such a shocker to everyone wearing orange. That "spirit cup" nonsense made it that much sweeter.

The one with the Hogs was epic. It was right before Christmas in 2000 (and not long before another epic event - an ice storm that kept all of us from getting home from the holidays for a day or two). I think OU was still down by 8 with under 1:50 to play and still forced OT. That was as loud as I've ever heard the LNC for a December game.

1990 game vs Loyola-Maramount where we gave up 112 points and won by 60.

If you just want to talk about scoring, US International was pretty amazing. OU scored 98 points in the first half, if I recall correctly. This was probably around 89 or 90.

I think it was in Kelvin's last year at OU, that we had four straight one-point wins. What was the chronological order of those? I think the victims were, but I don't remember the order, OSU, Iowa State, Kansas State and maybe Mizzou or Tech.

One that piqued lots of peoples' interest in basketball, unexpectedly, came in February of '76. OU beat Kansas in Lawrence, 64-63 (I think that was the final score, but it was a one-point win) on a free throw by freshman John McCullough. That was a 9-win OU team in the end, but they had a nice run in conference play despite being short (lineup went 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 and 5-9) and young.

all bad oversights, but both of the latter two were ones i thought. Nolan beats Desmond Mason off the dribble...many times. low scoring Eddie-Kelvin let em play no cheapies at the stripe epic...being down 48-41 or something seemed dire slash impossible.

the Hog game i was there.....didn't look good, usual LNC exodus about 7 minutes left beat the parking (what, why even go if ou are going to leave?) ....and Tim Heskett takes his man off the baseline (read those words out loud slowly to yourself....)...misses, and gets his putback or something.

and then we are on. we might have a chance.....

to be fair, Joe Johnson was a Frosh and it was December. he had moves, but looked gawky.

I may have mentioned being at that OU-Arky game in December of 2000. I'd say that was the loudest I've ever heard the LNC in late December (when the students had left after finals week). And I've been going to the LNC since the first year it opened ('75-76 season).
