defense as well as TT did the first half we would not have lost a game this year. An early loss by 11 and this loss by 8 are the two worst losses we have had. If we could and would play defense as well as they did the first half we would not have lost a single game.

I could not figure out why we kept trying to throw it out for the 3 when we were driving the lane, numerous turnovers doing this, Should have kept penetrating to the bucket or cut backside on the over play of the passing lanes. we did some penetrating in the 2nd half but down 20 it was a little to little a little to late, oh well we need to pick up the pieces and move on. we are still very young and Ryan needs some help inside our D could be better but all and all i have been happy with this team now let go to Stilly and beat OState.

Our defense was not that bad in the second half, so it's not like OU is not capable of getting stops. We failed to match Tech's energy on both ends of the court in the first half and it cost us. When an opponent gets on a roll and builds a big lead, it's not easy to turn the tide. Our kids finally showed they wanted to win the game in the last fifteen minutes, but by then it was too late.

The problem Ada is that defense is a constant that you can control, no matter who you are there are going to be bad shooting nights which are amplified when you rely on the 3 like we do. We are just bad fundamentally playing help D which we have to get better at since we are below average on the ball.

What I don't understand is what happened to Buddy, he destroyed some guys last year (like Elijah Johnson) and has severely regressed this year gambling all the time and not just manning up guys properly.

we had 3 possessions in a row when it was a 4 point game where tech spent the entire shot clock only to dribble right in the heart of our defense and score an easy jumper/go to the foul line.Tech is a bad offensive team.
Our defense was bad, our offense was bad, tunrovers, no energy.

Heres a stat. 2-19 combined Jordan/Buddy 8 turnovers/1 assist

We also shot 50% from the free throw line

Just a horrible game in every phase.

I agree 100%, MercedeSooner. I'm a "learn to play defense first" fan who always appreciated the way Kelvin's team played on that end of the court. Defense is one thing you can depend on every night. It's not nearly as fickle as a three point shot.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to justify our first half performance. I can sum it up in two words: It stunk! What I tried to point out is that a few of our players proved they can play a little D in the second half. It should be noted that we had starters on the bench during that comeback run. Maybe that's where they need to stay if they're not going to show up in the first 20 minutes.
