...and everyone says "Damn, I wish we had Capel back". It's going to be the most epic fail in the history of coaching hires.

Please provide one name of a living and employable coach that would result in everyone saying "Damn, I wish we had Capel back".

I for one would never say it. i would revert back to "Damn, I wish Kelvin never left"

At this point I don't think anyone with a brain would complain too heavily about it being Geno.

Geno? The guy from Wichita? Sendek?

Geno and Marshall are clearly better than Capel. Even Sendek would result in only a small percentage of people wishing for Capel. Capel was offal the last two years with no sign that things will get better in the future. Even Sendek can't be worse.

That would be my reaction if the following were hired:

The UNT coach
Stallings
Kruger
Williams
The Witchita State Coach
Sendak

Offal is the current status of the men's basketball program multiplied by the square root of PI then added to E=Mc2.

Offal is a culinary term used to refer to the entrails and internal organs of a butchered animal. The word does not refer to a particular list of organs, but includes most internal organs other than muscles or bones.

In some parts of Europe, scrotum, brain, chitterlings (pig's small intestine), trotters (feet), heart, head (of pigs, calves, sheep and lamb), kidney, liver, "lights" (lung), sweetbreads (thymus or pancreas), fries (testicles), tongue, snout (nose), tripe (reticulum) and maws (stomach) from various mammals are common menu items.

The traditional Scottish haggis consists of sheep stomach stuffed with a boiled mix of liver, heart, lungs, rolled oats and other ingredients. In the UK Midlands, faggots are made from ground or minced pig offal (mainly liver and cheek), bread, herbs and onion wrapped in pig's caul. Steak and kidney pie (typically featuring veal or beef kidneys) is widely known and enjoyed in Britain and Ireland. Brawn is a British English term for "head cheese", or the collection of meat and tissue found on an animal's skull (typically a pig) that is cooked, chilled and set in gelatin. Another British and Irish food is black pudding, consisting of congealed pig's blood with oatmeal made into sausage-like links with pig intestine as a casing, then boiled and is usually fried on preparation. Melton Mowbray pork pies are made in part from pig trotters.

Why?

What does Geno bring to the table that proves he can succeed in the Men's game? I give it up to him Jim Trabor style for the empire he has built in womens hoops but its a different game.

My biggest beef with Geno is I honestly don't think he would be able to recruit worth a darn. The high budget, shark like nature of the recruiting in the mens game is a different animal then the womens. I know Summer ball is evolving on the girls side but I don't think it is even close to the level. Just look at what Nike is doing with the EYBL along with the pure multitude of the tournaments out there now. Some big time cash is being shelled into summer basketball for 14-18 year olds.

I also just don't see 15-18 year old boys being receptive to listening to the guy who was a womens coach. I don't think many would give him a fair chance, especially the top athletes needed to compete in the big 12. If Geno was to become a mens coach he would need to start out small at a mid major where the talent level isn't as important and the X's and O's does. As he establishes a name as a men's coach and establishes the recruiting needed to succeed in the men's game.

Our next coach could be Tony Barone and it would be a step up.
