If we lose Capel give me Yalls short list of canidates?

Here is mine:

5. Steve Fisher SDSU
4. Sadler
3. Ben Jacobson (northern Iowa
2. Gillispie
1. Steve Alford

Would have to throw in Buzz williams, Terry Evans, and Brad Stevens (Butlers coach) as well.

Before the season started I said the only way he would be fired is if OU went 0-16 in conference play. Since they didn't I will say he keeps his job but he has to make the NCAA's next season or he is toast. Now would I be shocked if he ends up getting canned? No I wouldn't.

I actually would be pretty surprised if he gets canned.

Whatever the case, I think if we don't land 1-2 impact players (frosh/juco) in the next 4 months he should be let go. This team right now, +osby/goff and -cade will be middle of the pack in the Big 12. 2 years at the bottom and one year as middle of the pack Big 12 are more than anyone deserves to turn it around. If he's let go this summer that will give a new good coach a chance to acclimatize without crazy expectations next year, and bring in a few of his own talented recruits for 2012-13. As for the talk Fitz, Pledger, Cam et al. may leave: why would they, and where would they go? Are they Capel's relatives? This wouldn't be the 1st time a coach were let go and players had to deal with it, won't be the last.

Also, it's not like we'd lose the recruiting class of the century - Goff and who?

Alford was a complete failure at Iowa. Pass. He has coached twice as long as Capel and they have the same number of NCAA tourney wins

This post makes a lot of sense. Im on board with this concept.

This actually makes sense.

Co-sign

5. Steve Fisher SDSU - Too old
4. Sadler - Not enough of a resume
3. Ben Jacobson (northern Iowa) - We got a guy from VCU, probably should stay away from the smaller ranks
2. Gillispie - To each their own...for me, hell no.
1. Steve Alford - Sucked at Iowa...out of your list, he'd be my choice. That's not saying a lot though.

Explain why you like these guys.

I agree 100 percent w Dem.

I almost started a new post posing this Q before I read this

With Cezar maybe getting a KU offer the pipedream that we'll get him and Jurick is starting to go up in smoke. All we really have to hang our hats on w Capel is the hope that we will get some great recruits in right away and will get back to the upper reaches quickly. If we lose our "targets" what is left that a new coach can't improve.

I have a very ill feeling about striking out on Guererro and Jurick. Too many good programs in play for OU to have any shot imo.

Ok, Lets start with Gillispie (he has proven he can coach in the big 12 and win without Elite level talent) Jacobson (I think he is a youger up and coming coach kind of like the Butler coach and would like to see what they could do at a program like OU after thier success at butler and NIU) Sadler (to me he is a huge liability recruiting, however I think this guy can coach his A$$ off)
Buzz Williams would be an interesting one with his ability to recruit Texas.

Who you have in mind? In all honesty I would rather have Capel back if he can prove through recruiting this year he can bring us back.

How many ****ing threads and posts do we need on what other coaches you want to see hired?

If capel is fired, the search needs to start and end with Gregg Marshall. You pay him whatever amount it takes. If he passes then you try to get Sadler, if he passes then hire Terry Evans.

Should he lose his job? Maybe. Will he lose his job? Probably not.
