If you could change anything about OU's basketball team what would it be?

I thought of another thing, I want to see more competition for minutes. Let's be honest, there was nobody out there to push Tiny, TMG and WWIII.
I hear ya, but whose fault is that? Why do we not have sufficient depth? Who made the decision(s) on whom to offer and whom to dismiss?

When we first hired Capel and he reeled in a few commits relatively quickly, I asked aloud (on the Rivals board...you were there then) if he was taking commitments from players who may not be upper-tier Big 12 caliber. It was almost like his gravitas amongst recruits had increased based on the profile of our program, and he couldn't say "no" to kids he would have welcomed with open arms at VCU.

A few years later, we've churned more players in our program than I can ever remember. We're getting ready (unfortunately) to churn 'em again.

That's on one guy.

I hear you Booger and worry that you are spot on. This team certainly produced an unacceptable performance this year and a repeat of this certainly can not be tolerated. Capel has a number of issues he has to address and your points in some of your previous posts are quite valid. I am making an effort to approach next year with some excitement (tough after last night) due to the fact that it such a make or break year for the staff and team.

Personally, I don't think Capel is a good enough coach and that's ultimately why I don't think it's possible. Maybe I'm wrong and I hope I am. I sincerely hope you are right.

If they didn't make the final 4 with the best player on the planet, his brother (both of which are in the NBA) and a sr. point guard, they probably won't make it with this group. Again, I hope I'm wrong.

That and the fact they played and lost to one of the best College teams in recent history.

Hey - I wonder how that team is doing?

Really?
Not much better than ours...That's crazy.

A full, loud, and undeniable home court advantage. Can you imagine our recruiting and home record year in and year out if there were 12,000 people at every home game?

People won't show up if a team sucks. Even in OU football the attendance went down in the 90s.

Capel had Blake and his brother who was willing to work hard for themselves and when the team is around that work ethic then the team strive to do the same,so with saying that they made Capel job very easy now he has a team he has to bring together as one and coach seems to be dificult for him i think Capel need to leave the program and learn how to bring a team together off the court and on the court and as you look at both on and off the court behavior of these kids, then Capel has felled the program.

It would be great. I really wish I had a magic button to make that happen. Obviously that was virtually impossible this year but OU has had plenty of teams that deserved that type of support and did not get it.

Who would you replace him with Chico?

I am leaning towards a coaching change. We have the worst team in the 12 right now and this is Cap's 4th year.

I don't have confidence in Capel at this time. I would be shocked if Joe C. gives him another year althought he should get one.

I personally think Joe C would be making a huge mistake to fire Capel right now. The guy is one year removed from the Great 8. That does not send a good message. Additionally, right now it looks like Capel is going to return 6 of his top 8 guys (and 8 of his top 10) plus bring in a good recruiting class. Even though this year was horrible, things appear to be looking better. Firing a coach is a big decision that has a lot of risk associated with it.

I am far from sold on Capel but I wouldn't fire him if it were my decision.
