If you're interested, Mizzou completed its coaching staff today

Good deal Sawyer,

I know Haith wasn't a big splash hire but honestly, I think he'll do fine. His teams defend well and that always gives you a chance.

Miami is just a bad basketball job, and that has to be considered in his evaluation.

I think the Tigers will be fine.

I agree. Haith is a good coach who had little chance for success at Miami. The Mizzou job will give him a much better opportunity to prove his mettle as a coach. The Tigers should continue to be among the top five teams in the conference, even after the present players are gone.

As for being "interested," I'm much more interested in seeing the Sooners beat the crap out of the Tigers at least twice a year.

His staff definitely helps ease the pain of the initial lackluster hire. Fuller and Chew should both be outstanding recruiters (Fuller nationally with his Nike/NBA connections, Chew regionally with KC AAU ties).

If Haith is successful, I think he could be there a long time. He owes MU a lot for getting him out of that quagmire in Miami. I'm sure he knows it, too.

Is it true that English is entering the draft? Do these guys not learn from guys like TMG, Tiny two cars?

I think that may have actually been one of the reasons Alden hired him. Alden stated very early on that he wanted a guy who really wanted to be at Mizzou long-term. Haith probably is that guy. If he can end up being the coach a lot of people thought he would be when he was still at UT, he'll do well here. Mizzou fans just have to hope the Miami job really is that bad.

It's true that every player is allowed to enter the draft once and return to school if they don't hire an agent. It's a very common practice, and something any player with professional aspirations (either in the NBA or internationally) should do IMO. Both he and Bowers will get an opportunity to work out with some of the best players in the world in front of professional coaches and scouts, getting valuable feedback that he can use to get better for next year.

Even if Haith is sucessful, I think you have to agree it's a step down from Anderson. And I was no particular fan of Anderson, either.

We'll see. One thing Haith has shown already that is an upgrade over Anderson is the ability and willingness to be flexible. Anderson had his system, his evaluation process and his guys, and he stuck with them, whether it was working or not. When it did work, it was amazing. When it didn't, it was extremely frustrating (I'm talking both on the court and in recruiting).

If Haith can start pulling in recruits like Rodney Purvis (very strong ties to Fuller, who was the reason he chose Louisville), Mizzou definitely has a chance to surpass what Anderson did.

I said it the day of and will say it again, Haith will be pretty good at Missouri. He can win there.

Miami is a dump program. You cant win consistently there. Again, you could make the arguement that Haith was the best coach that school ever had! That tells you a little about it.

People keep talking about top 5 like it's a big deal anymore. There's only 10 teams. Top 3 or 4 is more impressive.

Still probably a 5 bid conference (minimum) in most years.

Fourth place is one spot better than fifth. Yeah, I guess that IS more impressive – if you squint while looking through translucent glass.

good staff all the way around. it'll be interesting what watching pnr recruiting over the next few years. for that matter, all of kc area recruiting.

I agree. In fact, I would argue the Big XII is getting screwed if it becomes only a 5 bid conference in good years. I like to give Missouri grief but they have a solid basketball program. OU, OSU, Missouri, KU, KSU and Texas are all traditional NCAA Trounament teams over the last 20 or so years (KU much longer than that). KU, Texas, OU, KSU, OSU, and Missouri have all made the Tournament 24 times or more (that is tied for 26th all time or better). ISU and Tech have been been 13 times (tied for 69th all time). A&M 12 times. Baylor has made it 6 times. I sure hope the conference consistently gets 6 teams. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Men's_Division_I_Tournament_bids_by_school

Where is Capel on that list???Jeff will get a D11 coaching gig somewhere or just set out a year & count his Millions$$$...I still like the guy,but things fell apart at OU..Go Sooners!!!!
