Ignorant Article

Ignorant article? You're too kind, okienole! That's beyond ignorant and a few dozen more choice words and phrases I can think of!

I laughed when I read this part: "My tolerance depends on it." Are you kidding me? As if someone really gives a rat's rear end if Mason's tolerance level improves! :ez-roll:

This kid is so stupid we could explain why fans rushed the court and he still wouldn't understand it. I just wasted two minutes of my time I'll never get back in reading that garbage!

That was literally the worst sports article I have read. The writing was poor. The tone was condescending. Background was non-existent. The analysis was self-centered in a way that only a teenager could pull off. I am baffled that this made it to print. I am honestly more embarrassed for everyone involved than I am upset. I can't help but imagine that kid and those editors remembering this article 10 years from now and cringing at themselves.

"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

The kid has the reasons wrong, but rushing the court was really embarassing. TCU just beat them for goodness suck. Let a scrub program like that rush the court, but not THE University of Oklahoma.

No, what was embarrassing was the state our basketball program has been in the last few years... And, after going through all that, rushing the court after this win was absolutly appropriate.

Now, we don't need to make any habits with it, but in that situation it was the rough equivalent to rushing the field after beating Nebraska in 2000 in football.

the insinuation that because we are a football school, we aren't allowed to take joy or pride in the other sports is what is most insulting. i thought rushing the court was a little silly as well. but to be that put off by fans celebrating after this program has been at it's lowest of lows is simply sad. but i was young once too, and used to make much ado of nothing. he/she will mature as well.

His "ideas" (such as they were) were all over the map, his prose fell well short of what he was aiming for, and he seems to have been confused as to whether he was composing an opinion piece for a newspaper and the sort of over-the-top screed offered by talking heads on sports television.

It didn't have to be mentioned at column's end that he is a freshman; it was obvious.

Does the Daily not have editors who look this stuff over before it's committed to ink and pixels?

i mean im about as anti-rushing the court as possible. but given the dismal excitement about our team and college basketball in general, I think it was excellent! and given that those bastards had won 10 straight against us... I LOVED IT. screw that tool bag

I don't think we should be rushing the court either but after hearing the players responses on the students rushing the court and how much it meant to them, maybe it was ok this time.

We beat KU, a Top 5 team after the worst years in recent memory for our hoops program that is highly underrated. It is exactly that ind of moment our program needs at this point.

I did think the church league comment was pretty funny. Other than that, trash.

This guy was probably about 12 years old when we last had a top 5 win over anyone.

It's not like it's an epidemic of court rushing going on. When was the last time we rushed the court? I know we rushed in 1995 after beating Kansas. But, I seem to remember also rushing it later that year in a win against OSU. I think OSU was the final home game of the season and win gave us a undefeated home record.

There is with college basketball in general...it's getting ridiculous.

There do seem to have been more upsets than usual this year.

That's probably a worse reflection on the state of the polls than the mood of fans.

As for this article... I wrote humor for student media for two years and this article would pass for a pretty devastating satire if given the proper headline. Something like "POINT: FOOTBALL IS LITERALLY THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS ABOUT OU." The credited writer would be "A white male freshman on academic probation". Counterpoint could be by Ada Lois Sipuel.

Kids are kids and will say and write stupid things BUT is there no supervision? At the same time Berry Tramel also took a shot at fans for rushing the court,so I shold also question editors at the BOK.
