recruit girls who are tall , lean and weigh 175 lbs. Teams are getting so rough and tough and Iowa St. and teams like them seem to push us around. I watched Stanford and some others with gals that were as big as big mens guards and just as physical. I think it's a trend.

We do need to be tougher and more physical, no doubt. More height is always a plus.

If someone is lean, how tall would they have to be to weigh 175 pounds?

I've been saying this for a while now. I'm tired of seeing teams like A$M and Baylor, among others, push us around and murder us on the boards - especially the offensive side. I'm usually told that Whitney and Maddie are tall and athletic. It's a damn shame that Sharane is only five whatever. If she was 6'3" she's be an AA.

Candice Parker was/is 6'4", 175.

Get Keilani Ricketts in here and let her run the Belldozer. She can intimidate anybody.

I agree with you an Amanda Thompson type player, 2 or 3 on the team would be great, and with 15 scholarships it doesn't seem like it should be that hard to fill a roster but it has for us.

I'd like to have six or seven or fifteen like her.

Sometimes, it helps if we remember people as they really were. Amanda was a great athlete. But, she was only about a 30% three-point shooter. That would have put her about tenth on this year's team. She was only about a 40% shooter from the field. That would have been the worst of any forward that we had this year. A forward really needs to shoot somewhere near fifty percent or better.

There were things that Amanda did well. Let's appreciate who we have at all times rather than wish for something that never was.

Are you saying that Amanda would not have started on this years team? This post leaves me wondering where you are?

Exactly what does the post say?

I hate to put it this way but it says you do not know what you are talking about. First we do not even have 10 players on the team and Sharene only shot 30% from 3 and only 40% all together so I must confess I have no idea what you are talking about. Other than you apparently did not like Amanda.

Manning 100%
Hand 51.7%
Ellenberg 41.5%
McFarland 35.8%
Durrett 35.0%
Hook 33.9%
Kornet 32.5%
Campbell 30.5%

Thompson career 29.3% from three
40.6% from the field

Well, at least she was better than Jaz and Nicole. Oh yes...and the two volleyball players. :)

Almost everyone on this year's team had a better FG%. Amanda had strengths, and we should recognize her for her contributions. She wasn't the most highly-accurate shooter. We appreciate our players for what they are, accepting that none are perfect. Sometimes, we tend to remember things that never were and hold them over the heads of what we have now.

What I remember most about Amanda is she was a super-deft passer in crowded traffic. Many times teammates just couldn't see it coming. Great court awareness.

I remember her as a leaper who could take over a game.

Well I shouldn't have mention Amanda Thompson by name , your original point about us needing more athletic forwards six foot plus was the point. We seem not to have a problem recruiting scoring guards but lack aggressive defensive stoppers at the 3 & 4 positions. My beef with Sherri & staff is that the team never seems to be at full scholarship limit plus your telling me we can't find a girl in Oklahoma or N. Texas to walkin and help out in practice? :facepalm

I understand. Nothing wrong with bringing her up. I remember how excited I was when we got her out of Chicago. I've been tired of us getting pushed around for a long time. I'd love to have some tough defensive girls that can rebound and won't kill us on offense.
