Incident another rotten mess for Sooners >>> The Oklahoman

Great if you enjoy speculation. Believe I'll wait for the facts and let Tramel write about his fantasies.

After August, communication between Taliaferro and Hausinger dipped until January, when Hausinger apparently made a visit to Norman.
On Jan 16, before OU defeated Missouri 66-61 at the Lloyd Noble Center, a tweet from the same Twitter page attributed to Hausinger read: "In Norman getting set to watch Willie Warren and Keith Gallon take on the MO tigers, Boomer Sooner.”
After the game, Hausinger sent three text messages to Taliaferro, before Taliaferro replied later that evening.
The day before the game, Taliaferro placed two calls to Hausinger — one to Hausinger’s office number and one to his cell phone. Later, Hausinger called Taliaferro using his cell phone.
Taliaferro, who resigned April 8, had no comment about the Hausinger investigation when last reached, the day of his resignation.

Is Hausinger just a Sooner fan?:D

Article was weak, IMO. You just get the idea that some of these articles are written by a desperate writer looking to fill a required quota. The article tells us nothing that hasn't been speculated about on most Sooner message boards..... Maybe I'm wrong, but it just reeks of lazy reporting/desperation.....

It was an opinion piece wrapped up in conjecture and served up as facts while acknowledging in several points that discovery is ongoing. Here is the ultimate irony, he pretty much dotes on Boren and Castiglione as fantastic stewards of the University, forgetting that THEY are the common denominator for all of these NCAA problems in both football and two separate regimes of the basketball program. That is why I think the piece is another hatchet job, if you are going to pick a fight, pick the big fight Berry.

Yes, a lot of conjecture and imagination. No doubt this whole situation is bad for OU basketball and the University. But no one has ever come up with an explanation for how this supposed $3,000 payment would have benefited OU basketball. Was the jerk agent paying Tiny to come to OU? I thought he was an FSU booster. If he paid him after he got here what was the payment for? To stay? Or to agree to sign with him when he completed his one and done.

Now, in some respects, it could be similar to the Reggie Bush deal and USC. If we had a coach who was trying to hook up agents and players then that is bad. And Capel deserves some blame for hiring the guy. So was Coach T hoping to get a kickback? What was his motivation? Did he deceive Capel? How did he avoid compliance catching him? There are a lot of questions. OU does need to wrap this up and take it to the NCAA soon. I have a feeling they will since the phone records were released.

As ridiculous as some of that was, I'm afraid of what Sittler is going to say about this.

Reading that drivel was a total waste of 90 seconds of my life.

It "looks" bad, but until we know what the situation is I am at a loss as to all the conjecture. I mean seriously, this is a somewhat respected sportswriter and THIS was the best he could come up with. Not looking for Woodward and Bernstein Part II here, but seriously, the Oklahoman has relied on Twitter for sources, and now speculation as a substitute for journalism. Here is a pretty KEY question: Did Coach O call this guy before or after the money was allegedly deposited? Has anyone asked?

OK. I live on planet earth. The big fear I have is that there was more to be uncovered than the 3000 dollar payment to Tiny. Or that Jeff knew and did nothing or, at worst, intstigated or encouraged this. Otherwise, assuming what we know is what it seems, I do not see OU getting decapitated over 3000 dollars.

Berry T. wrote a piece that was not much factual but was fantasing about the storm clouds on the horizon and that rain or hail was not far off. He can do and has done better than this piece of mistitled, yesterdays news dribble that he pounded out on his keyboard.

There is a lot to speculate about - however, it is best done on internet blogs and the like rather than via legitimate media outlets. Sorry, I forgot, the latter doesn't matter either as he works for the Daily Oklahoman...

i don't understand why so many people have been assuming that o.t. "arranged" this. that makes absolutely no sense.

until some info comes out that indicates one way or other, the only logical assumption for me, is that o.t. found out about the payment and then contacted the agent to manage the situation quietly.

i'm sure he had some obligation to report it, but i don't think it's akin to ou actually paying players.

This is a good question, but most of what you read says the initial contact came back in like March 2009 and the deposit was made on August 2009. If that is accurate.
