Notre Dame had a really good season; I'm surprised they've struggled a bit so far in the tourney.

yeah. I had really expected Notre Dame to blow away the competition with the way they were playing in their conf tourney. Then I watched them and they were less than impressive.

Look into the numbers a bit. Xavier played two teams with poor defenses (neither ranked in top 100 efficiency wise), while Michigan state played the 21st ranked defense and the 2nd ranked defense. OU played a top 25 defense in round 2.

Notre dame played a top 10 defense in butler in round 2 and had the opening game of the day on day 1. Wisconsin played the worst defensive team left in the bracket in both rounds.

Margin of victory is not at all important in this kind of sample size.

I'm not sure I agree. Butler is very good and tough and played their butts off in that game. To me, it's not a knock against Notre Dame that they barely won that game.

you certainly could be right there. I thought Butler played well. I had just seen ND play much stronger a week before. But maybe it was the competition.
