"One thing is for sure, we are beatin’ down the streets for recruits, and word is they are also looking for a versatile forward ala Ebanks…. but in regards to Jurick, Oklahoma is hot on his trail.
It’s probably going to be very tough to beat out the Sooners for his services, but time will tell."

Capel has been looking for a "forward like Ebanks since he got to OU."

He hasn't landed one yet.

Another Juco, why am I not surprised??

Whats wrong with another JUCO? If KSampson does it, its ok, BUT being the fans that some of you are, Its not ok if Capel does it...

Tell me how thats fair?

I have no problems with JUCO's filling holes, but Capel is getting to the point where he misses on so many HS kids, and has so many transfers, that he is ONLY landing JUCO's. That is not good.

The one and done rule is making coaches across the nation scramble for players anywhere they can find enough to fill a roster..... I understand the Capel hate, but some of you have made it a point to find fault in anything he does..... JUCO guys have been a regular part of OUHOOPS forever, and no they are not the only guys that he lands.....

I understand that completely. I think it takes a good mixture, With Cam, Pledge, Fitz, and even Newell and Neal thats pretty good HS talent, now add some JUCO pieces and maybe we get better! Hopefully

Agreed, except, I don't understand the Capel hate. Calling him a clown and generally constantly insulting him as a person, along with everyone exhibiting their expertise by pointing to anything he does as stupid. It's exhausting.
The product on the floor for the last two years has been abysmally bad, and Capel deserves the overwhelming bulk of the responsibility for that. That doesn't change the fact that he is a good man. People act like he has done something to them personally, or that he has intentionally made OU basketball bad. Grow up. I have no problem with people saying that he should be shown the door. On the other hand, grown men calling him a clown is classless and unnecessary.

(JMizz, I'm not saying you say those things. Your post just brought the thoughts to mind.)

Agree 100%. It is one of the things that I HATE about OUr fanbase. We would rip whorns/pokes apart for some of the things that have been said about OUr coach, and even about each other as so-called fellow Sooners.

Interesting note: I have a best friend that I have known for over 28 yrs. We went to OU together, and both have loved everything Sooner for OUr entire lives. My buddy has not missed a bowl game, NCAA tourney, etc in yrs. He will not even think about joining a Sooner message board for the very reasons that you just said. He lives in Virginia and donates tons of his money to the Univ, but he won't subject himself to the juvenile environment of most Sooner message boards... Sometimes I wonder why I don't folllow his lead...

Good post. Nobody likes losing but some of the behavior and messages posted here has been downright embarrassing. When I first discovered the boards (5 or 6 years ago) I thought they were a great resource and really enjoyed the sense of community that existed. Lately though it's hard to stomach even coming to the site because of all the negativity. Constructive criticism is one thing, but personal outlandish attacks or statements kill my desire to ever read the boards again.

Unless your calipari.

Yeah, I know. I stayed away from this board for quite a while this year. I came back because of people like you, Ada and others.
Have to take the bad with the good, but lately there has been a lot of bad. Granted, that is mostly because of what has happened on the court, but there is nothing wrong with civility, even in the face of strife.

I am OK with signing juco kids who can play. We need some size inside. OU is not going to make its living signing the highly rated HS kids in bulk. We'll get a few like Cam Clark but we won't have enough around him without some good jucos.

My concern with Capel is mostly in his evaluation of talent. We have seen enough players he's signed who are just not up to D1 standards, including some jucos....

I agree completely.

I've been pretty critical of Capel (I've never called him a clown, btw), but I don't understand being upset if he lands Jurick who would help us.

Looking back, Thompson was a horrible get but a lot of people on this board were excited about him based on comments from Bossi and his performance at the national tourney.

Washington, however, was a good juco get IMO, and has helped when he's played. Capel just doesn't play him much, which I don't understand considering we need rebounding and Washington brings that. I think if you look back over the 4 game winning streak, Washington played more minutes in those games than he has in the last 8 losses.

We need inside help and Jurick seems to be just that.

How many 1 and dones left college basketball last year?

If you read the article in the link you'll realize that comment is in regards to Huggins not Capel, doofus.

I thin kJurick is a must get type of guy. We need some legitimate size for rebounding, shot blocking and some low post scoring. If we could land him and at least one of the PG's that have been mentioned (Jones, Crooms or Guerro) I think we could have a nice team next year when you also add in Romero and GOff. I would really like to land two of the guards though.

Who has transferred that you miss? He hasn't lost anyone as talented as the players that transferred during Sampsons era. Lavender, Mckenzie, Alexander, Humphrey. Who has Capel lost...Willis, Allen, Neysmith, Cannon! Other than Patillo...who wasn't on board with going to class, among other things...was the only that we could have used.

I can make a case for Reynolds and James, but I won't.

Clark
Patillo
Cannon would be the second best post on this team.
TJ Taylor was a top 100 recruit.
Early? Another top 100 guy I believe.

And it doesn't matter how good the transfers are. Simply losing that many players, in that short of a time, hurts your program. Willis and Neysmith, along with Taylor are top 100 recruits.

Doofus? Grow up.

Doesn't matter, Capel is too. Capel has been trying to find a 4 that has wing skills since he got to OU. And he has failed, miserably. That is what Thompson was suppose to be. That is what Chris Early was suppose to be. He tried to turn Taylor into that, than backed off. And it's what he is trying to do with Neal.
