Is OU done recruiting for the year?

Anyone think Reaves will consider coming back next season or take his chances at the NBA or playing overseas? We definitely win in Lubbock with this guy, btw.

All seniors are on the table last I heard.

This isn’t going to go over well

prob for good reason as well. C'mon...seriously...we are competing with those schools for a kid and we are suppose to be all giddy?

Not sure if that's the intent of your comment but ya, that makes me question our recruiting ability.

Maybe he'll be a diamond in the rough but there is a reason he's getting those offers.

Showing interest. No offer.

This is new to me. They check in on a lot of kids.

Which of our recent additions (I'm including Mo, Harkless, Cortes and CJ here) have a certain group of posters not questioned?

Man, I'm sick of people judging players by star ratings and other offers. How many stellars offers did Harless and Gibson receive? You'd think, in this of all seasons, folks would give Lon and his staff the benefit of the doubt, but nope.

It's just part of the system. Recent graduates from college are measured by gpa (star rating) Those job seekers with work experience are measured by who they previously worked for (offers).

Except GPA is a much more objective tool than star ratings that are doled out by recruiting services. Not saying they are worthless, but some people seem to act as if players aren’t worth looking at or offering if they aren’t four stars and don’t have offers from a bunch of elite programs. Besides, as Coach notes, just because we are looking at a player doesn’t necessarily mean we will offer.

ok...

I'm a realist. I know we can't get 3-4 5* McDAA every yr...I'd be happy 1 every couple of yrs. It is what it is..with that said, I'd rather have 8-9 guys that are a team and play well together.

Like this year’s team? Count me in!

There's no doubt that Lon's had some recruiting failure over the last 4/5 years, no getting around it the results speak for themselves. But... I have to hand it to him going out and getting the two transfers that have been obviously extremely functional and effective. Neither of those guys were highly regarded at all by the pundits but it appeared Lon was looking for an infusion of toughness and did his homework. They have brought much more toughness than what OU had, they know how to play basketball, and they both have that "knack" that has eluded many of our players recently. My kudos to him for assimilating them into the program and so far making it work. That being said, building great depth and sustaining the program he will need to sign, at least some, high school stars. We'll see how Bijan and the Texas guy work out. A large wing and a big would be nice be it young transfer or high school prospect. Missing out on Collins hurt bad, but let's see what Lon can do for these last two schollies...

This is my biggest complaint with Lon's affection for the Kuaths, Garangs and Issanzas of the world. We have to teach them the game. How in the world are they going to help as members of the scout team if we're forced to bring them up to speed on the basics of the game?

There are guys out there like Harkless all over the place. Slightly undersized, but BALLERS. We'll have much more luck bringing in guys like that than fruitlessly pursuing Top-50 HS talent. Bring them in, keep them four years, and get OLD. That's how you win at the University of Oklahoma.

A friggin men.

That being said I still have hope for Rick.

I'm 100% in favor of using ship 11,12 and 13 to develop guys with upsides. That has nothing to do with having a hole at the 5 position in the top 7 rotation.
