Is Wojcik on the hot seat at Tulsa?

International NBA Draft 'expert' for ESPN. Excellent analyst, that has spent years making connections all over the country, but specifically in 'Big 12 country'. I mean, nobody is perfect, he did fired at UNM ten years ago, but look at what Lavin was able to do recruiting-wise at St. Johns after being an ESPN analyst so long.

Every single, solitary one of those kids being recruited knows him.
They all watch ESPN. That kind of crap matters.

Destroyed the New Mexico program after Bliss, guy had a perennial tournament team served to him on a platter and subsequently turned it into a below average Mountain West squad. Players were literally walking off the court during a game at Air Force because they disliked him so much.

Has a kid in high school still (I think), will probably stay with his current gig for a while.

I don't believe Scott will leave ORU for TU, he has lifetime job security in the same city.. the three names I heard the most so far, are Norm Roberts, David Cason & Brookes Thompson...

Why would they hire one of the assistants? That would be a terrible idea. Norm Roberts is interesting, and if they consider Thompson, I'd just as soon they give the job to Terry Evans.

Cason is a former assistant, currently at Vandy, he has a different style of play than Doug has.. & he's well liked by the current players & admin.

I think Brooks Thompson would be a great choice.

But I'm biased... he's my all-time favorite OSU player.

:)

Because Doc Sadler is a better coach than Scott Sutton. When you fire a coach, you want to upgrade, not downgrade.

I gotta agree with this. I think Sutton has a VERY low ceiling as a head coach at a school like Nebraska.

Sutton turned down Nebraska once before Sadler was hired.. also rumored that Scott interviewed with Miss. St. already as well...

Why do you say that? I don't pay much attention to the going ons in Tulsa area basketball. But, on the surface he seems to be of a higher caliber than his daddy or brother and has done a good job at ORU.

That is about as low a bar as you can set IMO, but having met Scott on more than one occasion in the distant past, he struck me as a very solid guy. Very down-to-earth and quiet in college when I met him. I was actually shocked he has gone as far in coaching as he has based on the humble demeanor he had back then.

Now, that right there, that's funny.

Higher caliber? Like, ethics-wise? If so, I probably agree. But ethics don't win games. The coach TU had was a good guy, that graduated kids and ran a clean program. But that isn't enough. TU wants to win at a higher level. And I don't think Scott Sutton can do that at TU. Seems like TU would be hiring the exact same type of coach to me.

Donor told me Tulsa is going with a guy that currently lives in Vegas, but didn't know his name. I have no idea who that would be -- maybe the coach or assistant at UNLV (purely a guess -- like I said, I didn't get a name)

If true, anybody know about someone that could possibly be a candidate that lives in Vegas. Need rank speculation as soon as possible. Thanks.

LOL.

So he could tell you where the guy lived, but not his name or who he works for? Doesn't sound like very good intel.

WT, I would be shocked if it were good intel. My buddie doesn't have first hand intel. I asked if he had heard anything and he just said that he didn't have a name but that he had heard they were talking to a guy from Vegas about the job. He told me he was told the name, just that he couldn't remember it and he wasn't familiar with the person. He said he would remember it the minute we left the resturant. I'll call and see if he can remember the name.

By the way, my friend is not an insider at TU, just a donor and season ticket holder to Football and basketball, gives some money otherwise to the university, and follows their sports teams like you and I do OU.
