Looking like another .500 (give or take a few) season.... Fitz, Pledger, Grooms, and Osby gone after this year.

Total rebuilding mode still.

Is OU in the running for any NBA caliber talent? Seems strange that the boys in Orange (OSU) have two first round NBA picks and OU doesnt even have anything in the cupboard.

Yup, we suck. There's no way we can get better and start competing with really good teams like Gonzaga 3 months from now. Might as well just write it off. Thank God guys like Pledger and Osby will be gone. Wish we were just like OSU and had NBA talent with a genius like Ford running the show. Soooo jealous, they've had so much success the last few years.

We have a real young team. I wouldn't expect us to look that good right now. We basically have 3 freshmen guards getting a majority of the playing time there. Having a senior like Pledger helps but it's still extremely young overall. It's still early in the season. And we've shown a lot of good so far. We played a veteran top 15 team that may end up a top 10 team by years end. Not really sure what a lot of people on here were really expecting tonight. I was hoping we wouldn't get blown out but I kinda figured we would.

Dear God you chickenlittle. If you don't hit open shots you get blown out by good teams. It's game 4. Relax, it'll be ok.

Young Team? We have 5 seniors and 4 juniors

We have a hell of a lot more talent than last year. I expect a couple more wins than last year. It was the first game against real competition. Not worried. I still think our strength will be defense

bgrch1350,

I agree that we can't make the "young team" excuse, but we are working 4 newcomers into our 8 man rotation...that's disruptive to a team, especially offensively.

Would you agree that the only upperclassman who played at a high level tonight was Romero Osby.

Now, answer one question for me. Who signed five of those nine players? Do you want me to spell it out for you or is that something you can figure out on your own by checking the roster?

The point is, if you're going to diss the recruits and players Kruger signed, don't leave out those that Capel brought in when they stink it up the way Fitz, Pledger and Clark did tonight. The problem is not the youth on this team. It's that, with the exception of Romero, our veterans did not get the job done.

Frustrating to me having so many of last year's starters on the bench - can't be good for morale and makes the learning curve that much higher for us to become a winning team again.

While I sometimes agree we could be starting another vet or two, it's obvious to me that LK wants to start a good defensive unit. Just got to get those guys a little better on offense, as a unit.

It's not just the newcomers missing shots. Clark and Fitz's shooting are attrocious. And Pledger and Fitz are taking waaaaay to many shots. Pledger is missing tons of shots. He's getting buckets, but it's taking mucho attemps. It's killing us all around. I know Pledger and Fitz are trying to make something happen, but their shot selection is awful. Now I don't think the half court offense looks stellar at all either. I'm an optimist and I hope that our half court O will be worked on more and these guys can work to get better shots within the offense. Almost every game at least one of the newcomers shoots at a high percentage. Pledger/Fitz/Clark=less shots. Freshmen=more. And that includes creating their own off the dribble(not just jump shots), and driving more. We really need an inside space eater with at least average offensive ability, bad. I hope that 6-10 guy we signed is good... Gonzaga's big men were money...Were two of them 7 feet? Unreal...

All I could think about the whole second half while I was sitting there watching we're those 2 little Cajuns on the waterboy sayin "oh no, we suck again!" Lol

Pledger is shooting 41% from three, and that after I don't think feel like he's gotten hot.

At 41%, he needs to KEEP shooting, if not shoot more. LK needs to get him some better looks. Run a few plays for him.

Cameron Clark is, sad to say, a bust.

He really should have transferred to a smaller school last year and had 2 years to play at that level. Somewhere like North Texas, UTEP, SMU, Houston, etc.

Is Osby and Pledger not the best players on this squad? Cause if they are...and you hate on Capel for bringing these players in...then it shouldn't be that hard to find better players then them.

Lets not forget that in 3 recruiting classes at OU, Capel brought in Griffin and Warren. Kruger is almost done with his 3rd recruiting class and their is no High School Griffin or Warren type of player in any of his classes.

I have moved on from Capel. I am embracing the Kruger era, but Kruger needs to start getting in on these Texas players. 11 of them in the top 150 and we got 0. I'm glad we got Woodard..but if he's the best recruit we have coming in next season...were not going to get better. Juco stars are dying out b/c kids are going to prep school.

I was on board with Jeff Capel even before he stepped foot on OU's campus. He had my full support until the program went south under his watch with two horrific seasons back to back, not to mention our NCAA problems as well as off-the-court issues involving some of his players. I have never been, nor will I ever be a "Capel hater."

As for Osby and Pledger, you would have to look long and hard to find anyone who has been a bigger fan of both players. I followed Pledger's career in high school, and also wanted Osby to sign with OU when Rod Barnes recruited him out of high school in Mississippi. I may criticize them from time to time. But I'm just as quick to give them props. The difference between you and me is that I couldn't care less about which head coach recruited the players on our roster. They're all Sooners to me. Period.

That said, if you have truly moved on to embrace the Kruger era, I applaud your decision. I haven't seen that yet, but I'm willing to accept what you say and welcome you to the fold. Congrats! :clap
