Woodard gives us very little from the 2 guard position. So, James should be starting for him and then Woodard can take Walker's role but play more than Walker because Woodard is so much better.

Just no.

It makes us much bigger, more physical and James can make FT's, the 3 point shot and drive to the bucket. It's really the only solution in my mind.

Woodard is not the problem. Woodard holds his own against bigger guards. He shoots the 3 at 44%. Woodard is our second best free throw shooter.

James is a really talented player, and he needs to be the first guard off the bench. Walker needs to be relegated to the bench more often.

That's the only good thing that came out of this game was James. Surely in the Tourney he will get quality minutes. This kid could be special he just needs playing time. I believe he will help us in the Tourney.

You are right, Woodard is a good player. It's not about Woodard's play as much as it's about what James can do. Let's face it, Woodard isn't very good at the 2 guard. He's more of a point guard. James would be a better fit at the 2 now.

I don't really care what position he plays as long as he consistently outplays the guy across from him.

Our main deficiency is our bench play. James needs walkers minutes, and AK should play more than jamuni, IMO.

Christian is just going to get more confident as he plays more. Don't forget he didn't play much his senior year in high school because of his broken leg. The sky is the limit. I believe he will be the torch recipient from Buddy. Don't throw Jordan under the bus. He just needs to be smarter with the basketball and choose his shots wisely. We will need his experience in the tourney. If you can keep Christian playing this way along with getting Dante Buford back on track that makes for good depth going into the tourney. McNeace and AK need to step it up. BOOMER SOONER BABY!

James is the shiny, new thing, but he's had one good game in a row now. Let's wait till he's shown what he can do in, say, two games in a row or even three before we bench a three-year starter, shall we?

With Buddy struggling last night, Woodward's scoring was vital to us staying close in the first half.

B O B are you chasing a afternoon talk show job, there is already a big ass filling that position

IMO Woodard plays the smartest out of the gaurds. He has the same Asst/TO ratio as Cousins. In fact has the fewest turnovers out of the starters except Lattin, who of course doesnt handle the ball that much. Overall I think Woodard has really good shot selection. I question a lot more of the shots that Buddy and Cousins take during a game. But Buddy is such a great shooter that its fine that he forces, or appears to force more. Im not saying Woodard is better than those two, I just think hes a smarter player than your giving him credit for.

Let's reign it in just a bit and say that we'll be looking forward to Christian James in the starting lineup next season.

James needs to play more at the expense of Buddy Minutes! Buddy could use the rest and James is Buddy Jr! James can rotate in a lot more now and keep the other 3 guards fresh!

Jordan has become so passive the last month. He looked for his shot early last night but he used to drive to the lane and make things happen. He used to be automatic from the FT line but now both of those are in the past. Starting James might shake it up a little bit and we know he has a lot of potential.

Again, I think Jordan is playing out of position and he's not aggressive enough. Also, he's so small he doesn't match up with the other teams 2 guard. I like Jordan but that group of 5 the last 12 minutes was scoring largely because James was being the aggressor, something Jordan hasn't been in a long time.

:facepalm

Time to log off.

This is awesome! OU Football logic has taken over! Sad this board has changed.

I'm thrilled that James played great last night and he has a bright future but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Woodard is the better player and I can't believe we are having this discussion.

I could be wrong, it's just an opinion. I accept not many agree with me and that's fine but we need production from someone besides Buddy. Last night, that was James. He was able to do what nobody else was able to do. Go back to some of our losses, we struggled for offense when Buddy wasn't getting looks. To me, he brings that dimension. I'm not a coach, just a casual observer who played basketball all thru school (before college).

I think James may have earned some more playing time but that could also end quickly. He played tough last night though and it was good to see. On the other hand I'll take Woodard as my starter.

We got production from several other sources. Woodward had 11 points last night. Spangler had 12; Cousins had 15. James had by far his best outing of the season and if he plays like that game in, game out, he'll see plenty of playing time. But you advocated benching a three-year starter (who kept us in the game in the first half last night) based on a single solid half from a true freshman.
